Position Overview

This plant‑based role is responsible for supervising and executing all aspects of the Maintenance department, overseeing a team of Maintenance Mechanics and Maintenance Support personnel. Successful candidates will lead, manage, execute, train, and mentor maintenance personnel, be capable of leading and working in a team environment, possess good written and verbal communication skills, problem‑solving ability, conflict‑resolution skills, strong interpersonal skills, and an ability to adapt to changing situations. The role reports to the Maintenance Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage plant maintenance employees and activities
  • Be responsible for the motivation and safety of those employees under your supervision
  • Coach and develop a strong team of maintenance technicians
  • Meet volume goals, reduce claims, maximize yields, and reduce cost
  • Identify and resolve recurring equipment problems
  • Set up preventive maintenance activities
  • Prepare operational paperwork
  • Maintain good working relationships with USDA
Competencies and Skills

  • Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with pumps, valves, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Good understanding of Lockout/Tagout
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment

Ideal Candidate Qualifications
  • Minimum 3+ years of verifiable experience supervising food manufacturing equipment maintenance
  • Ammonia refrigeration experience/certification highly desired
  • Experience working in a USDA environment is a plus
  • Any certifications or equivalent technical training are a plus
  • Ability to perform in a fast‑paced environment
Physical Demands

Ability to perform duties both outside and inside in varying conditions, including extreme heat, extreme cold, and wet/humid environments.

Work Environment and Personal Protective Equipment
  • Works in a plant and a general office environment
  • Required to wear suitable protective equipment
  • May be exposed to loud noise of plant machinery
  • May be exposed to extreme temperatures, wet, humid conditions, and inclement weather
  • May be exposed to oils and airborne particles
