Job summary

Gorton’s Seafood seeks a maintenance leader to guide the Shift maintenance team in Gloucester, MA. You will ensure timely repairs, coordinate daily technician workload, and deploy resources to support operations.

The role requires strong collaboration with production management and a focus on safety and quality. Five years of food-manufacturing maintenance experience and leadership ability are expected, with CMMS and electrical/controls knowledge as advantages.

Qualifications

• Five years of maintenance experience in a food manufacturer setting.
• Previous leadership, management, or supervisory experience with strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience using a CMMS system is a plus.
• Electrical or controls experience is a plus.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting capabilities.
• Proven track record of collaborating with others.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Shift maintenance team to ensure timely completion of repairs.
• Coordinate daily workload for Shift Process Technicians.
• Deploy maintenance resources to support operations effectively.
• Support operations to optimize run efficiencies for products.
• Ensure high quality of work and timely completion with the maintenance team.
• Schedule and execute a daily maintenance plan aligned with production schedules.
• Provide technical assistance to production management.
• Assist in training and development of Maintenance Technicians.
• Assist with diagnostics and troubleshooting to ensure timely repairs.
• Review work orders and report updates to the Manager.

Job description

Contribute to the overall success of Gorton’s Seafood and its maintenance objectives by leading the assigned Shift maintenance team. This position will be responsible for overseeing maintenance repairs, providing technical support, and coordinating maintenance activities. This position reports to the Maintenance and Facilities Manager and maintains a close working relationship with production management and Engineering.

• Ensure the proper and timely completion of all scheduled and unscheduled machine repair activities.
• Coordinate the daily workload for assigned Shift Process Technicians.
• Ensure that all the available maintenance resources are appropriately deployed to best support the operation.
• Support Operations as needed to ensure optimal run efficiencies for products.
• Support the Maintenance team to ensure the highest quality of work is completed and work is completed on time.
• Schedule and execute a daily maintenance plan based on the production schedule and maintenance workload needs.
• Provide technical assistance and support to production management.
• Assist in training and development of Maintenance Technicians.
• Help with diagnostics and troubleshooting with technicians to ensure timely repairs.
• Review work orders to ensure PM’s are correct and report needed updates to the Manager.

What you’ll need:

• Five years prior maintenance experience in a food manufacturer setting
• Previous leadership, management, or supervisory experience with strong written and verbal communication skills
• Previous experience using a CMMS system a plus
• Electrical or controls experience a plus
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting capabilities
• A proven track record of working collaboratively with others
