Job summary

Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dunkirk, NY is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to help keep the facility safe, clean, and functional. You’ll perform routine maintenance, repairs, and groundskeeping to support residents and staff.

This part-time role offers a 3rd shift schedule, 3 days per week, with pay ranging $17 to $18.87 per hour, depending on experience. A valid NYS driver’s license and a hands-on approach are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 6 months of maintenance/cleaning experience; 1 year preferred.
• Valid NYS driver’s license required.
• Ability to lift/move equipment safely.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and general upkeep throughout the facility and grounds.
• Complete work orders and non-routine projects (painting, drywall, floor care, plumbing, electrical, ceiling tile, window repairs).
• Maintain exterior areas, parking lots, green spaces; assist with snow removal and salting.
• Collect and transport trash, soiled linens, and other materials throughout the facility.
• Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on equipment (lifts, concentrators, suction machines, laundry equipment, wheelchairs, generators).
• Conduct fire drills, extinguisher inspections, water temp testing, sharps container inspections.
• Report maintenance concerns, equipment malfunctions, and safety hazards promptly.
• Assist with facility security and quality improvement initiatives.
