New Hampshire Ball Bearings, Inc. (NHBB) seeks an Operator Trainee to operate machining equipment and contribute to precise component production. You will follow procedures, use gauges for setup and inspection, and support ongoing quality standards in a manufacturing environment.

Ideal candidates have a HS Diploma or GED and some manufacturing familiarity; mechanical aptitude is preferred. The role emphasizes safety, record-keeping, and teamwork in a busy shop.

Qualifications

• Read, reference and interpret written and verbal instructions; always following established standard procedures.
• Perform basic mathematical calculation, understanding standard and metric systems.
• Maintain established production levels and quality standards.
• Recognize and report any irregularities as to fits, defective parts, finishes, work techniques and/or quality of workmanship.
• Maintain necessary records; work is subject to audited inspections.

Responsibilities

• Operate required machines or equipment to produce parts to specified dimensions and finish according to quality standards.
• Replace worn tooling and adjust machines as needed.
• Use micrometers, verniers, optical comparator, microscope, and gauges to set‑up equipment and check work; review calibration of measuring equipment.
• Operate automation equipment and provide minor troubleshooting within the work area as assigned.
• Diagnose and correct operating difficulties, maintain required records, and report unusual conditions to the assigned leader.
• Keep work area clean and orderly, follow safety rules and OSHA regulations, and move materials as required to complete job duties.

Job description

As an Operator Trainee, you will operate machinery or utilize equipment to produce components to specified dimensions and characteristics according to quality standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operate required machines or equipment to produce a diversified range of parts on short or long run work, and exacting finish specifications. Follow established procedures, verbal instructions, and information obtained from set-up cards and layout sheets (certified process or engineered cycles) to ensure parts are manufactured per process and drawing requirements.
• Replace worn tooling and adjust machines as needed
• Use micrometers, verniers, optical comparator, microscope, and a variety of fixed and adjustable gauges to set-up equipment and check work. Review calibration of all measuring equipment. Patrol machines using the 4-bin system.
• Operate automation equipment and provide minor troubleshooting within work area as assigned
• Diagnose and correct operating difficulties, maintain required records, detect and report unusual conditions to assigned leader.
• Keep work area clean and orderly, observing all safety rules and regulations, and conforming to OSHA regulations.
• Move materials, parts, and containers, as required, to complete job duties.

• Includes must be able to: stand, walk, bend, reach, grab, twist, carry, push and pull.
• Must be able to lift up to 40lbs.
