Job summary

Magna is looking for a capable IT professional to support MES/JIS systems in a manufacturing environment. You will manage SQL databases, maintain high availability, and help implement disaster recovery processes.

The role requires strong Windows server administration knowledge and experience with ERP/production IT integration. The ideal candidate holds a CS/MIS/CIS degree or equivalent IT experience, with a focus on automation and process improvement.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years experience in Information Systems with a manufacturing background.
  • Strong background in Microsoft Systems Administration (AD, DHCP, DNS, Server, Group Policy).
  • Experience with VMware ESXi environments and maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of relational database applications.
  • Ability to program SQL stored procedures, functions and triggers or C#/Java basics.
  • Capable of solving problems quickly and automating processes.

Responsibilities

  • Support mission critical MES (JIS/JIT) systems and multiple SQL databases.
  • Set up, maintain and troubleshoot high availability systems.
  • Ensure LAN/WAN capabilities with security and reliable recovery.
  • Develop and test disaster recovery plans and procedures.
  • Document procedures; train end users; support IT for Decostar systems.
  • Assist audits (SOX, TS, ISO) and participate in process improvements.

Job Responsibilities:
General Job Duties:

Specific Job Duties:
  • Support mission critical Just in Sequence/Time (JIS/JIT) Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
  • Support multiple SQL databases using clustered and mirrored environments.
  • Setup/maintain and troubleshoot high availability systems.
  • Ensure LAN/WAN capabilities are maximized through effective network administration, high levels of systems security and a timely, reliable, accurate systems recovery program.
  • Develop, test and maintain system recovery procedures and disaster recovery plans.
  • Develop, test and maintain documented systems procedures/work instructions – train end users.
  • Support the maintenance and trouble-shooting requirements of information systems for Decostar.
  • Help determine reasons for equipment failures and advise on corrective and preventive actions to eliminate future safety, quality or downtime issues.
  • Support Communication devices including cell phones, phone system, and 2 way radios.
  • Maintain and support front office systems including: Solidat, AutoCAD, Office 365, etc.
  • Participate in internal audits (SOX,TS,ISO).
  • Performs such other reasonable duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Skills and Experience Required:
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in Information Systems with a strong manufacturing background, preferably in the Tier 1 OEM automotive parts industry. MES systems experience a plus
  • Strong background in Microsoft Systems Administration (AD, DHCP, DNS, Server, Group Policy Management, etc.)
  • Background in VMWare cluster environments and maintenance (ESXi).
  • Must have a working knowledge of relational database applications.
  • Programming SQL stored procedures, functions and triggers a plus OR Intermediate programming (C#, VB, ASP.NET, java, etc) a plus
  • Hand-held devices; bar code scanners, RF tag-readers, card readers.
  • Must have the ability to solve problems quickly and automate processes.
  • Must have basic administrative knowledge of the Windows and Linux servers.
  • Must prepare process flow diagrams.
Experience with Microsoft office applications (Word, Excel, Power point)

Ability to communicate effectively and work both independently and well with others.

Ability to work off hour shifts & weekends
Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, MIS, CIS, or related study or equivalent experience.

High School diploma and 3 years IT related experience may be substituted in lieu of degree. Work experience combined with current schooling towards degree will be considered.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires a person to have the ability to perform work while standing or walking a minimum of eight (8) hours a day and manage stairs on an occasional basis.

This position requires the ability to perform work which is below the knees and above the shoulders on an occasional basis.

You will receive training to perform your job on an on-going basis concurrent with Decostar business operations. Training areas will include safety, quality, continuous improvement and other job specific training that is determined to be an essential part of your job and Decostar business operations.
