Job summary

Flowers Foods, Inc. in Georgia seeks an Industrial Maintenance Technician to keep bakery equipment running safely and efficiently.

The role rotates across plant areas and requires hands-on mechanical, electrical and welding skills, plus a commitment to training and continuous improvement. You will use SAP for parts checkout and data entry, perform preventive maintenance, and adhere to EEO, Safety and SOX policies; candidates should have a high school diploma and 2 years of vocational training,

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus 2 years of vocational/technical training or equivalent work experience, including electronic/electrical technology and machine maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate safe work habits, proper tool use, general shop practices, maintenance tasks, knowledge of support equipment, and critical equipment operation sequencing.
• Demonstrate knowledge of electrical welding, gas welding, cutting, soldering, pipe fittings, and metal fabrication (milling and lathe).
• Identify and inspect mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components.
• Rebuild mechanical drive components such as clutches, brakes, etc.
• Verify and correct mechanical timing.
• Perform proper lubrication and preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Identify wear and troubleshoot/replace drive and conveyor components.
• Use SAP for parts checkout, reporting, and data entry.
• Follow environmental and maintenance programs.
• Maintain clean and safe work environment.
• Follow company policies (EEO, Harassment, Safety, Sarbanes Oxley).
• Perform other duties as assigned, including scheduling adherence.
• Possess or attain licenses to work with boilers, refrigeration components and related equipment.

Bringing Home the Dough

Industrial Maintenance Technicians ensure optimal efficiency is achieved by performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, with safety and quality standards being a top priority. They must possess a technical mindset and demonstrate strong mechanical capabilities, while being flexible and adaptable as they will be required to rotate job assignments throughout various areas of the bakery. Industrial Maintenance Technicians must have the aptitude and drive to seek and acquire on-going training due to ever evolving technological improvements and performance standards.

Role requires the ability to climb fixed and portable ladders to a height of twenty (20) feet, the ability to stoop and bend while lifting weights up to fifty (50) pounds, and the ability to climb onto and under machinery, as required.

Rising to the Challenge: Position Responsibilities

• Demonstrate safe work habits, proper tool selection and usage, general shop practices, maintenance tasks, knowledge of support equipment, and thorough knowledge of critical equipment components and critical equipment operational sequencing
• Demonstrate knowledge of electrical welding, gas welding, cutting, soldering, pipe fittings, and metal fabrication (milling and lathe)
• Identify and inspect mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components
• Rebuild mechanical drive components such as clutches, brakes, etc.
• Verify and correct mechanical timing
• Perform proper component lubrication and conduct preventive maintenance on specific equipment
• Identify mechanical wear and identify, troubleshoot, and replace mechanical drive and conveyor components
• Use SAP software for parts checkout, reporting, and general data entry
• Practice learned knowledge of environmental and maintenance programs
• Maintain clean and safe work environment
• Practice and comply with all Company policies and procedures (EEO, Harassment, Safety, Sarbanes Oxley, etc.)
• Perform other duties which are deemed by management to be an integral part of the job, including but not limited to fulfillment of work schedules, adherence to attendance policies, and other applicable operating rules, policies and procedures
• Possess or attain licenses required by their respective municipal, county/ward or state regulatory agencies to work with boilers, refrigeration components and various other job-related equipment

Knead to Know: Preferred Qualifications

• Three or more years of experience as a Maintenance Technician and/or formal training or experience.
• Experience in Electronics, Electrical repairs, Industrial Equipment installations, Alignment, Start-up repairs, Part fabrication, Welding, HVAC, etc.

Additional Ingredients: Essential Job Requirements

• Physically capable of rapid, unimpeded movement to all areas of plant. Able to climb fixed and portable ladders. Able to crawl under and climb onto machinery and equipment. Able to enter and exit confined spaces.
• Ability to utilize tools as required by the particular maintenance job and carry a tool pouch weighing up to 15 pounds.
• Ability to lift and hold up to 50 pounds from floor level to 48 inches. Dexterity in fingers, arms, and hands enough to perform complex wiring, welding, and written communication.
• High school diploma or GED plus a minimum of 2 years of vocational/technical training or equivalent work experience, which includes electronic/electrical technology and machine maintenance.

Salary Range- $27.75 - $28.96 hourly
