Job summary

Skjodt-Barrett Foods Inc. is seeking a Filler operator to set up and run filling machines in a food manufacturing environment. You will monitor operations, adjust equipment to maintain quality, and document test data.

The role requires basic math, ability to read/written English, and adherence to safety and quality standards. Prior experience with filling lines in a food facility is a plus. This is an on-site position in Indiana.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience running and troubleshooting machinery preferred.
• Experience in a food manufacturing facility a plus.
• Can read, write and speak English.
• Proficient at basic addition and subtraction.
• Understands temperature and weight measures.

Responsibilities

• Set up filling machine, readying it for production.

• Stop or reset machines when malfunctions occur; troubleshoot and communicate with supervision/maintenance as needed.
• Record production and test data regularly (temperature, test results, cycle time).
• Replenish packaging supplies (pouches, caps) and ensure correct coding on pouches.
• Perform regular product quality checks to ensure specifications are met.
• Complete documentation and perform basic machine cleaning procedures.

Job Responsibilities and Essential Functions

• Set up filling machine, readying it for production.
• Observe machine(s) operations to ensure quality and conformity of filled products to standards. Adjust machine(s) as necessary to gain or maintain compliance.
• Stop or reset machines when malfunctions occur, troubleshooting as necessary and communicating with supervision and maintenance as necessary.
• Record production and test data regularly, such as temperature, test results, and cycle time.
• Perform more frequent checks when running a line with a Filler Assistant.
• Replenish packaging supplies, such as pouches and caps.
• Ensure pouches and caps match the descriptions provided on the filling sheets.
• Ensure coder is operational and code printed onto pouch is correct.
• Perform regular product quality checks, ensuring product meets specifications.
• Perform more frequent checks when running a line with a Filler Assistant.
• Complete documentation.
• Perform basic machine cleaning procedures.

Attendance Requirements

The Filler position is a skilled position that requires regular and predictable attendance in order to ensure customer needs are consistently met. In order to be successful and remain in this role, employees must not miss more than one (1) day during their initial training period and must maintain attendance points below eight (8) at all times. Anyone in this role who reaches eight (8) or more attendance points, or who misses more than one (1) day during their initial training period, will be removed from the position and placed in a non-skilled role at the applicable rate of pay for that role.
