Job summary

Red Wing Shoe Company, SB Foot Tanning division, is seeking a 3rd Shift Equipment Maintenance Technician / Steam Plant Stationary Engineer in Red Wing, MN. You will maintain, troubleshoot and repair manufacturing equipment, with primary focus on boiler operations and site maintenance.

Hours are Sunday night through Friday morning 9:30pm – 6am, with overtime as needed. Base pay ranges from $29.60 to $32.35 per hour, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications

• Must have a 2nd Class MN State Boiler License.
• High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Prefer 3 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Valid driver’s license required for company vehicle operation.
• Continuing education may be required based on background.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot and repair manufacturing machines and support equipment.
• Operate and maintain high pressure steam plant.
• Identify and use basic tools and materials for machine repair.
• Troubleshoot hydraulics, pneumatics, motors and pumps; understand control systems.
• Install new machinery and repair electrical and mechanical systems on equipment.
• Operate test meters and test voltages; interpret service manuals.
• Coordinate with operators on preventative maintenance and work orders.

SB Foot Tanning Company is looking for a 3rd ShiftEquipment Maintenance Technician / Steam Plant Stationary Engineerto be responsible for maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all equipment owned and operated by SB Foot Tanning Company; primarily boiler operations, repairing production equipment, and site maintenance.

Hours are Sunday night through Friday morning 9:30pm -6am with frequentovertime offered/required based upon seniority and business demands.

Base pay for this position ranges from $29.60 to $32.35 per hour depending on qualifications and experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting / repairing all manufacturing machines and support equipment to ensure safe and efficient plant operations.


• Operate and maintain high pressure steam plant.


• Must be able to identify and operate basic tools and materials used in machine repair.


• Possess basic trouble shooting knowledge in hydraulics. pneumatics, motors, pumps, and industrial control systems.


• Have a basic understanding of electrical fundamentals and troubleshooting.


• Responsible for the installation of new machinery, troubleshooting and repairing of both mechanical and electrical systems on production equipment.


• Must be able to operate a test meter, its functions and test different voltages.


• Have basic knowledge of pneumatics dealings with regulators, valves, tracing airlines and their functions.


• Ability to effectively utilize parts and service manuals.


• Work with machine operators on preventative maintenance of machines (oil & cleaning of machines) and workstations.


• Work orders will be prioritized and completed as scheduled to support the needs of manufacturing.


• Ability to prioritize and work efficiently and safely to meet the demands of plant operations.

• Represent the company in a professional manner.


• Insure a clean and safe work environment to support production throughout the facility.


• Good organizational skills and self-motivated to maintain/improve the work environment.


• Good verbal and written communication skills


• Maintain technical knowledge by participating in formal and informal educational workshops, classes, and presentations.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

• A minimum 2nd Class B MN State Boiler’s License is required.


• Must have a High School diploma or GED equivalent.


• Preferred 3 years of maintenance experience in manufacturing environment or Vocational school diploma/certificate.


• Continuing education/classes may be required based on background and knowledge.


• Must have valid driver’s license for operation of company vehicles both on and off premises.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Must be able to lift up-to 75 lbs. on a consistent basis.


• Must be able to climb several flights of stairs.


• Do repetitive bending, lifting, and twisting.


• Be able to work in a scissor lift, drive forklift, plow truck, skid loader, etc.


• Work flexible hours and overtime on an as-needed basis to ensure maintenance priorities and goals are met.


• Must be reliable and maintain a good attendance record.
