Apprentices are considered to be a valuable part of our team and process. In fact, 35% of our current team first joined us as an apprentice. We now have Department Heads and Group Creative Directors who have had their entire career at BUCK.

The ideal candidate is someone with some professional experience, but more importantly, we are looking for those who are curious and willing to learn. This opportunity is best suited for recent graduates, self-taught artists, and anyone in between.

Our 3D department is a team of creative and technical artists who value versatility, curiosity, and continuous growth. We encourage artists to expand their skills, explore new approaches, and learn from one another. We believe in-person collaboration is essential to building a strong team culture, developing great artists, and producing great work.

What we can expect from you:

Commitment & Location:

• Six-month, full-time apprenticeship.

• Candidates must live within commutable distance of our Los Angeles or New York offices and be able to work on-site throughout the apprenticeship.

  Responsibilities & Qualities:

  • Work closely with your assigned mentor to develop your skills, establish goals, and take ownership of your growth.
  • Collaborate with artists, designers, and creative directors to produce high-quality work for projects and pitches.
  • Show initiative, curiosity, and a strong desire to improve, both through feedback and independent learning.
  • Bring your own ideas and creative perspective while remaining receptive to feedback and direction.
  • Be reliable, organized, detail-oriented, and proactive in communicating progress or challenges.
  • Continuously evolve your skill set, learning new tools and techniques to adapt to the changing needs of the department and the industry.
  • Be generous with your knowledge, help your teammates succeed, and actively contribute to the department.
  • Have a strong foundation in at least one 3D discipline, with an interest in expanding your skills across others.

  Skills & Software:

  We're looking for artists who are excited to develop their skills across multiple areas of 3D, including:

  • Character or Hard Surface Modeling
  • Look Development and Texturing
  • Scene Assembly and Lighting
  • 3D and VFX Compositing
  • Character Animation
  • Non-Character Animation, Motion Graphics, and FX/Simulation
  • 3D Design and Illustration
  • Working knowledge of at least one of the following 3D packages:
  • Maya
  • Houdini
  • Cinema 4D

  We care more about your ability and willingness to learn new tools than the number of applications you already know.

What you can expect from us:

• A formal midpoint review, in addition to check-ins throughout the program

• Compensation:

  • $22.60/hr USD, non-exempt (Overtime eligible)
