Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent with additional training preferred.
  • Math skills include basic arithmetic (add/subtract/multiply/divide).
  • Strong written and verbal English communication; some Spanish helpful.
  • Ability to keep accurate and detailed records.
  • Basic PC skills and standard business software.
  • Forklift certification.
  • Valid NC driver’s license with good driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and adequate inventory of labels to support plant production for both shifts.
  • Inform Production Planning Manager when to order to prevent inventories from running out; create and place purchase orders.
  • Stage labels for both production shifts using the daily production schedule as a guide.
  • Restock returned labels; inspect, count, and consolidate partial boxes; seal and store properly.
  • Inspect labels received from Manufacturer and stock in designated areas.
  • Update label inventories electronically; print reports and adjust as approved by Production Planning Manager.
  • Maintain current label files and samples of the labels.
  • Operate a forklift to unload, transport, and stock labels and other packaging materials.
  • Travel to local materials warehouses as needed; drive own or company vehicle.
  • Keep work areas neat and clean.

Maintains inventory of labels to support plant production.

Duties And Responsibilities
Essential Functions
  • Maintains accurate and adequate inventory of labels to support plant production for both shifts. Arranges labels and inventories them in a manner that will assure the company has on-hand the necessary labels required to operate daily without shortages.
  • Informs Production Planning Manager when to order to prevent inventories from running out. Under direction of Production Planning Manager, creates and places purchase orders.
  • Using latest revision of daily production schedule as a guide, stages labels for both production shifts.
  • Restocks returned labels. Inspects labels which are returned after each production shift. Counts labels. Checks partial boxes to insure labels have not gotten mixed. Consolidates partial boxes. Seals boxes of labels after inspecting them, then returns the boxes to their proper storage area.
  • Inspects product labels when they are received from the Manufacturer and stocks them in the appropriate designated area.
  • Looks up label inventories electronically. Updates label inventory spreadsheets daily or as needed. Prints inventory reports and makes adjustments as approved by the Production Planning Manager.
  • Maintains physical label files at all times with the most current approved labels and samples of the same.
  • Operates a forklift to unload, transport, and stock labels and other packaging materials as necessary.
  • Travels to local materials warehouses in conjunction with some job duties. Drives own or company vehicle.
  • Keeps work areas neat and clean.
Other Duties
  • Cycle counts labels per direction, but not less than three times annually.
  • Follows safety rules and company policies.
  • Participates in training, employee meetings, committees, project teams, etc. as appropriate.
  • Receives written instructions from packing schedule or verbal instructions from supervisor on above tasks and performs other work as directed by supervisor.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • High school plus additional training preferred.
  • Math skills include addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and fractions.
  • Good written and verbal English communication skills needed, some conversational Spanish ability a plus.
  • Ability to keep accurate and detailed records.
  • Basic personal computer skills, with knowledge of standard business software.
  • Certified forklift operator.
  • Valid NC driver’s license with good driving record required.

Physical Demands
  • Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Standing: Particularly for sustained periods of time.

  • Fingering: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with the fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling.

  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
  • Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make find discriminations in sound.
  • Lifting: Must be able to lift 50 pounds cartons of labels and exert 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
  • The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: viewing a computer terminal and visual inspection of labels to confirming UPC accuracy.
Work Environment

Splits time between office, label room, plant and warehouse environments. Usual office working conditions. Plant and warehouse are inside, subject to some seasonal temperature variations. Earplugs required in plant because of irritating machinery noise. Head cover and beard cover required in plant. Steel-toed shoes required.
