Job summary

Red’s All Natural in South Dakota is seeking a Wrapper Operator to run and monitor high-speed packaging lines for burritos and related products. You will ensure correct film, seals, labeling, and full line continuity in a fast-paced environment.

You must read and follow SOPs, perform routine equipment checks, assist with changeovers, and support sanitation, quality, and maintenance teams. The role requires standing long shifts, lifting up to 50 lbs, and flexible hours.

  • Inspect burritos and packaging materials to verify quality, proper sealing, and correct labeling.
  • Perform routine equipment checks and basic troubleshooting to minimize downtime and maintain consistent line performance.
  • Coordinate with upstream and downstream team members to ensure continuous production flow and resolve bottlenecks.
  • Complete all required production and quality documentation accurately and timely.
  • Follow GMP, food safety, and safety protocols, including PPE usage and sanitation practices.

Scope of Role

The Wrapper Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring wrapper equipment to ensure the safe, efficient, and high‑quality packaging of burritos in a high‑speed production environment. This role is critical in maintaining production flow, meeting output targets (up to 180 burritos per minute), and ensuring product integrity and food safety standards are consistently upheld

Key Functional Skills/Knowledge
  • Operate and monitor wrapper equipment, ensuring settings and speeds are optimized for efficient production (up to 180 burritos per minute).
  • Conduct start‑ups, changeovers, and shutdowns according to SOPs.
  • Inspect burritos and packaging materials to verify quality, proper sealing, and correct labeling.
  • Perform routine equipment checks and basic troubleshooting to minimize downtime and maintain consistent line performance.
  • Coordinate with upstream and downstream team members to ensure continuous production flow and resolve bottlenecks.
  • Complete all required production and quality documentation accurately and timely.
  • Conduct minor maintenance tasks and support autonomous maintenance activities such as cleaning, inspection, and lubrication (CIL).
  • Follow all GMP, food safety, and safety protocols, including proper PPE usage and sanitation practices.
  • Identify and escalation any equipment or product quality issues to maintenance or supervision promptly.
  • Assist in line sanitation, clearing jams, and support general area cleanliness as needed.
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend information
  • Set up, operate, and adjust wrapping equipment to ensure products are wrapped according to specifications and production schedules.

  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth shift transitions and effective communication regarding production status or issues.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper disposal of waste and sanitation of machinery and surrounding workspace.
  • Assist with training new operators or team members as directed.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, overtime, and weekends as needed.
Required Knowledge & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend information
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in food manufacturing or high‑speed packaging operations.
  • Proven ability to operate automated equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Basic mechanical skills and ability to perform minor equipment adjustments and troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of GMPs and food safety principles.
  • Ability to read and follow production schedules, work instructions, and quality standards.
Preferred Knowledge & Experience
  • Experience operating horizontal flow wrapper equipment.
  • Prior experience with high‑speed packaging lines (e.g., 150+ units per minute).
  • Familiarity with CIL (cleaning, inspection, lubrication) practices and autonomous maintenance concepts.
  • Knowledge of HACCP principles and experience supporting food safety audits.
  • Bilingual (Spanish & English)
Work Environment
  • Food manufacturing facility with temperature variations and exposure to food ingredients.
  • Strict PPE use required; exposure to moving machinery and packaging materials.
  • Standing for extended periods (up to 10‑hour shifts).
