Overview
CPI is seeking a Welder for our Georgetown, TX facility for the second shift.
Essential Functions
- Under supervision, set up and operate gas and electric welding equipment to manufacture metal cabinets.
- Plan details of working procedure, tools, and material requirements.
- Weld sheet metal using different welding positions (flat, overhead, vertical, etc.).
- Cleans and prepares surfaces, including sanding, to be welded.
- Use cutting torch equipment to dismantle assemblies and cut material to size and shape.
- Build up worn or defective surfaces.
- Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly.
- Work from blueprint, engineering specifications, and production schedules.
- Upon completion of welding operations, assist other areas as needed.
Additional Functions
- Continuously maintain a clean work area.
- Dispose of trash and production scrap.
- Assist in cleaning common areas.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Technical Competencies
- High school or equivalent education preferred.
- Production welding with sheet metal experience preferred.
- Must demonstrate capability of welding sheet metal products by passing welding test.
- Proficient in reading and understanding blueprints and engineering specifications.
- Basic reading, writing and numerical ability.
- Proficient in using measuring devices for product inspection.
- Available and willing to work extended hours and/or weekends as production demands dictate.
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
Physical/Environmental Requirements
- Must wear all required personal protective equipment, especially eye protection.
- Lifts up to 50 lbs.
- Occasional pushing or pulling carts with loaded material.
- Frequent stooping, bending, reaching, and working on structures at varying heights.
- Frequent elbow/wrist movement while grasping parts and finished assembly.
- Constant standing and walking.
- Work area must be carefully enclosed to prevent injury from sparks and flying chips.
