Job summary

The Pittsburgh Paint Company is seeking a Utility Operator for the East Point Plant to support manufacturing operations across material handling, batching, grinding, filling, labeling, packaging, and quality processes.

This 2nd shift role runs 1 PM to 9:30 PM and pays $24.50 per hour plus a $0.50 shift differential, plus a $1,000 sign-on bonus. The position requires a High School Diploma or GED and a willingness to learn and operate varied equipment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in manufacturing, production, warehouse, or material-handling preferred.
  • Ability to learn and operate a variety of manufacturing and material-handling equipment.
  • Ability to accurately follow batch tickets, production instructions, and safety procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment and process issues and communicate concerns effectively.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and adapt to changing production priorities.
  • Ability to safely handle raw materials, finished products, and waste materials.
  • Forklift and material-handling experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, weigh, transport, and stage raw materials per batch requirements.
  • Use scan guns to locate, track, and document raw materials.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, scales, and other material-handling equipment.
  • Operate mixing, grinding, dispersing, and other production equipment.
  • Load and meter raw materials according to tickets.
  • Perform process checks, collect samples, and adjust batches.
  • Support quality assurance with testing and equipment checks.
  • Clean and maintain tanks and equipment.
  • Handle rework and waste materials properly.
  • Operate filling and labeling equipment and verify weights.
  • Prepare, package, and palletize finished products, ensuring DOT requirements.
  • Maintain production records and batch tickets.
