Responsibilities
- Assist Leads and Supervisors in operating and maintaining the casting melt process and equipment, following established procedures to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Monitor the casting process, inspect for quality, detect any defects or variations, and report concerns to Leads and Supervisors.
- Support routine maintenance of the transfer pot and equipment, including cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs to maintain optimal performance.
- Collaborate with Leads and Supervisors to troubleshoot transfer pot and equipment issues, implementing basic corrective actions and escalating more complex problems as necessary.
- Assist in the setup and changeover of transfer pots or equipment under guidance from Leads and Supervisors.
- Follow safety guidelines and maintain a clean and organized work area, prioritizing safety at all times.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by providing suggestions for process enhancement based on growing knowledge.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance technical skills and expand knowledge in casting.
- Complete all required check/PM documents and confirm equipment readiness before each operation.
- Adhere to company rules, including Hyster, Hitachi, and Astemo Rock Spring regulations, aiming to meet overall company goals such as OSHA safety compliance, ISO 14001 environmental compliance, ethical and legal compliance, customer quality, production to plan, and delivery performance.
Preferred Skills
- Demonstrated interest in melting, furnace, and transfer pot operations with eagerness to learn and grow in the field.
- Basic understanding of mechanical concepts to support gravity die castings operation and troubleshooting potential equipment issues.
- Ability to follow instructions, adapt quickly to changing responsibilities, and learn new skills efficiently.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with the team and support overall objectives.
- Safe handling and timely transfer of aluminum using supplied tools.
- Strong teamwork orientation and dedication to achieving daily targets.
Minimum Experience
High school diploma or equivalent. Basic knowledge of casting processes is advantageous but not required. Relevant coursework or certifications in casting or a related field is a plus.
Key Metrics and Physical Demands
- Adherence to quality standards and production targets as guided by Leads and Supervisors.
- Physical ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including standing for extended periods, performing physically demanding tasks, and occasionally lifting heavy objects.
