Job summary

Precision Medical Technologies, Incorporated is seeking an Advanced Machinist in Indiana to operate and program production machines with high autonomy. You will troubleshoot, uphold quality standards, and mentor junior machinists while collaborating with engineering for process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Power up machines, set up for production runs and run operations.
  • Follow and develop quality procedures and check dimensions.
  • Make precise tool offsets to achieve accurate dimensions.
  • Meet surface finish requirements and optimize machining parameters.
  • Use and maintain in-process inspection sheets to verify material and instructions.
  • Lead start-up procedures after tool changes or crashes to minimize downtime.
  • Support workplace organization and maintain clean, organized workstations.
  • Contribute to time and scrap reporting data for accurate job costing.
  • Assist in training junior machinists and provide technical support.
  • Collaborate with engineering to implement new machining techniques.

Job description

POSITION SUMMARY: The Advanced Machinist is responsible for operating and assisting with programming production machines, ensuring product quality, and providing expertise in machining operations. This role requires a high level of skill and autonomy, with the ability to troubleshoot and make decisions independently.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (essential Functions Of Position)

  • Power up machines, zero return axis to the home position, and assist with set up on machines for production runs.
  • Follow and develop quality procedures, identify all dimensions established at the machining operation, and check established dimensions using the in-process inspection sheet.
  • Make precise offsets to tools or work positions to achieve dimensionally acceptable products.
  • Understand and meet surface finish requirements, change tools as needed to maintain the finish, and optimize machining parameters.
  • Utilize and maintain shop travelers in production to verify correct material, size, quantity, and any additional notes or work instructions that differ from the customer print.
  • Execute and refine start-up procedures following machine crashes or major tool breakages, minimizing downtime.
  • Support and lead workplace organization efforts, including removing and storing fixtures, vices, and stops after jobs, replacing tooling and small tools in designated areas, and maintaining clean and organized workstations.
  • Follow and improve procedures for time reporting and scrap reporting via data collection to provide accurate job costing data.
  • Adhere to and enforce prescribed safety procedures.
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior machinists and provide technical support to the production team.
  • Continuously seek opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to develop and implement new machining techniques and processes.
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
NONESSENTIAL SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS (not Necessary But Preferred)
  • Previous machining.
  • Blueprint reading.
  • Understanding and application of GD&T.
