Job summary

Express Employment Professionals - Cincinnati East in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a Shop Foreman to lead production, coordinate daily workflows, and ensure safety compliance. The role reports to the Plant Manager and covers the 2nd shift, 4pm-3am, with a $27.50 shift premium.

The candidate will supervise and train staff, review prints, manage parts flow, conduct quality checks, and help schedule weld inspections while enforcing safety policies and driving efficiency.

• Self-starter with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to lift 70 lbs.
• Foreman/supervisor experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Controls workflow by material handling with overhead crane.
• Operate all yard equipment.
• Direct workload per employee capabilities.
• Attend weekly production meetings.
• Manage shop floor space with current workload.
• Review prints for galvanized/oversize/CJP work.
• Receive daily parts shipments and organize parts.
• Check finished prints, file in job box.
• Provide guidance with fabrication and welding techniques.
• Perform quality checks and schedule weld inspections.
• Communicate with Project Management on questions.
• Fill in for plant manager during absences.
• Release process for purchasing.
• Enforce company/safety policies.
• Responsible for shift production and security.
• Discipline department personnel as needed.
• Provide instruction and training resources.
• Monitor day-to-day activities of department personnel.
