JOB FUNCTION AND SCOPE
The robotic polishing cell operator receives castings from the Machine Shop and processes them through the polishing robot before moving these parts to Inspection.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Load and unload multiple belting and buffing robots.
- Operate all mechanical and control functions of the cells.
- Install, monitor, and replace abrasive belts.
- Install, monitor, and replace buff wheels.
- Initiate and download polishing and buffing programs, including physical changeover and setup of the work cell.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and diagnose programs and mechanical systems to support proper operation.
- Maintain liquid and solid buffing compounds.
- Inspect each casting after belting and buffing; use a manual wheel to correct parts so they meet quality standards for plating.
- Operate Fanuc robotic tool handling.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3‑5 years of polishing shop experience as a polisher or buffer.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must be able to write and speak English and communicate with co‑workers and supervisors.
MATH AND REASONING SKILLS
Mathematical skills including addition and subtraction. Some judgment is required to set up the assigned machine in accordance with standard methods and procedures. Must support the work cell to achieve prescribed production and quality rates.

None required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The role involves standing, walking, and using hands and fingers to handle and feel parts. Must have clear vision, good motor skills, and hand‑to‑eye coordination. Requires frequent walking, bending, reaching, counting, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Must be able to read fine print at times and communicate verbally.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The position works in a manufacturing facility with extreme temperatures and high noise levels requiring hearing protection and other safety equipment as needed.
