Job summary

Western Smokehouse Partners in Burlington, IA is seeking a Warehouse Team Member to load and unload shipments, wrap pallets, and prepare products for shipping in a fast-paced warehouse setting.

You will operate forklifts and other equipment, maintain accurate paperwork, and ensure proper lot coding and timely put-away of goods while supporting inventory counts and cross-training within departments. This role prioritizes safety, teamwork, and reliability.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Load and unload inbound and outbound shipments, verifying condition and accuracy of product and packaging.
• Wrap, weigh, and prepare pallets for shipping according to customer and internal specifications.
• Operate forklifts, electric pallet jacks, and other PITs safely and effectively.
• Maintain accurate shipping and receiving paperwork, including Bills of Lading, packing slips, and internal records.
• Ensure all cases are lot-coded correctly and product is put away on the same day it is received.
• Assist with picking and packing orders based on daily fulfillment requirements.
• Perform quality control checks on shipments to ensure accuracy, labeling, and product integrity.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized warehouse and dock areas.
• Support cross-training initiatives within the Packaging and Processing departments.
• Assist with month-end inventory counts and routine inventory spot checks.
• Label, scan, and store products using inventory and traceability systems.
• Communicate discrepancies or issues with received goods to supervisor or QA.
• Perform other related duties to support shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations.

• Ensure all cases are lot‑coded correctly and product is put away on the same day it is received.
• Assist with picking and packing orders based on daily fulfillment requirements.
• Perform quality control checks on shipments to ensure accuracy, labeling, and product integrity.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized warehouse and dock areas.
• Support cross‑training initiatives within the Packaging and Processing departments.
• Assist with month‑end inventory counts and routine inventory spot checks, including RTE (Ready‑To‑Eat) products.
• Label, scan, and store products using inventory and traceability systems (e.g., Vista Trac).
• Communicate any discrepancies or issues with received goods to supervisor or QA department.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to support shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Previous experience in warehouse, logistics, or shipping/receiving preferred but not required.
• Willingness to operate forklifts and other powered equipment (certification/training provided).
• Basic math, reading, and documentation skills.
• Ability to follow safety protocols and operate in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Team‑oriented mindset with the ability to take initiative when needed.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
• Work is performed in warehouse and dock areas with exposure to temperature changes and varying noise levels.
• Regular use of powered industrial trucks and other warehouse equipment.
• Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in designated areas.
