2nd shift-Production Supervisor

In Operations, you will oversee production, track product yields, and make necessary adjustments, ensuring safety and USDA health standards are met throughout the manufacturing process. You will play a key role in maintaining the trusted quality associated with our company brands.
Supervises production employees on assigned shifts to ensure production guidelines are met within established timing, quality, and cost standards. Trains, directs, coaches, and leads the production team daily to meet production, safety, and quality objectives. Communicates production goals and results to motivate the team to maintain high product quality and maximize plant efficiencies. Oversees routine maintenance and setup of machines, equipment, and facilities.
Core Responsibilities
- Conducts daily walks and visual inspections of the production floor to observe unsafe acts or conditions and takes corrective action as needed.
- Maintains safety and environmental self-audits and visual checks; champions safety and ergonomic activities, helping to meet plant safety goals.
- Ensures product quality and safety by making sure staff understand and follow the Food Safety and Food Quality plans.
- Trains employees on safe operating procedures, including lock-out/tag-out procedures.
- Adheres to product specifications throughout manufacturing to maintain quality standards.
- Maintains knowledge of products and equipment to guide employees properly.
- Ensures compliance with HACCP and USDA regulations, taking corrective actions when necessary.
- Conducts daily walks of the production floor and holds monthly line meetings to address questions and concerns.
- Strives to meet or exceed yield and efficiency goals.
- Collaborates with Operations Managers and Supervisors to monitor yields, variances, and areas for improvement.
- Suggests workflow and equipment changes to improve efficiency and reduce downtime and costs.
- Analyzes key product metrics to identify improvement opportunities.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED and 2+ years of related experience in a production environment; required.
- Bachelor's degree; preferred.
- Knowledge of SAP, internet, spreadsheet, word processing, and inventory software; preferred.
- Previous experience in food processing, supervision, and understanding of yields, plant efficiencies, and operations; preferred.
- Bilingual skills are a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to lead problem-solving and troubleshooting efforts for high-level process issues.
- Strong analytical, math, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to motivate, train, and coach employees to optimize performance.
- Good planning and priority-setting skills.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Respectful, approachable, and team-oriented, fostering a positive work environment.
- Ability to work in varying environments (heat and cold).
- May require long hours and weekends.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Provides leadership and guidance on the production floor.
- Executes supervisory responsibilities per organizational policies and laws, including hiring, training, performance appraisal, and discipline.
