Job summary

Greenbush Logistics is seeking a Plant mechanic in Hagerstown, MD to perform preventative maintenance, routine and non-routine repairs, and troubleshoot machinery.

The Plant mechanic will be responsible for maintenance, repair, installation, and modification of all sawmill equipment to safely maximize uptime, quality, and productivity. This is a full-time position offering competitive pay and a full benefits package.

Qualifications

• Experience in maintaining industrial machinery, preferably sawmill equipment.
• Ability to read and apply information from manuals and schematics.
• Commitment to safety procedures and policies.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, routine and non-routine repairs, and troubleshoot machinery issues.
• Maintain, repair, install, and modify all sawmill equipment to maximize uptime, quality, and productivity.
• Inspect and adjust routine daily maintenance on vehicles, including lubricating, cleaning parts, and maintaining tractors, trailers, and forklifts.
• Replace defective parts, adjust clearances, and align moving parts.
• Use hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, plumb bobs, and lasers to align machines and equipment.
• Repair and lubricate machines and equipment.
• Assemble and install equipment using hand tools and power tools.
• Move equipment with hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
• Position steel beams to support bedplates of machines and equipment.
• Insert shims, adjust nuts and bolts, or use measuring instruments to set specified clearances between moving and stationary parts.
• Lay out mounting holes, drill holes with a power drill.
• Dismantle machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools.
• Replace sprockets, pumps, machine centers, chains, sheaves, and belts with proper alignment.
• Replace hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders, valves, and hoses.
• Apply basic stick welding and oxygen/acetylene torch cutting.
• Splice and track conveyor belts of various sizes.
• Perform repairs and preventative maintenance checks and services per company policies and procedures.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, air, and hydraulic systems.
• Adjust operating mechanisms.
• Determine corrective action and repair parts required to correct malfunctions.
• Read and apply information from company maintenance manuals, technical manuals, policies, and schematic diagrams.
• Know and apply required company safety procedures.
