Job summary

Black & Decker (U.S.) Inc. seeks a 2nd shift Paint/Pack Operator in Shelbyville, KY. The role involves loading/unloading blades, inspecting quality, updating tags, and ensuring safe, efficient production. You’ll support machine changeovers, maintain 6S standards, and document work per procedures.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, basic math, ability to read blueprints, and basic English. Overtime flexibility is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Load and unload blades at a productive rate, following control plans and PPE rules.
  • Visual quality inspection of each saw blade.
  • Update move tags and piece counts accurately.
  • Identify and communicate potential problems promptly.
  • Report abnormal situations (crashes, setup, tags, or plans).
  • Operate, change over, adjust, troubleshoot, and clean machines as needed to maintain flow.
  • Maintain a safe 6S focused workplace and safe product handling.
  • Ensure products meet specifications and quality standards."
  • Fill out documentation and labels accurately.
  • Handle scrap, rework, and mixed product per process.

The Job

As a Pack Operator, you’ll be part of our Shelbyville Manufacturing team working as an on-site employee. You’ll get to:

  • Loads and unload blades at a productive rate, maintaining quality levels according to control plans, and using safe work ethics (PPE, MSDS and machine hazards).
  • Visual quality inspection of each saw blade.
  • Accurate updating of all move tags and piece counts.
  • Responsible for identifying and communicating possible problems which may be perceived.
  • Report any abnormal situations, including crashes, incorrect set-up, incorrect move tags or incorrect control plans.
  • Operate, change over, adjust, troubleshoot, and clean machines and equipment as needed while maintaining proper flow of product to meet service level goals
  • Maintain a safe work environment for yourself and other associates, exemplifying 6S principals
  • Ensure all products meet specifications, maintain quality standards of product following quality assurance on FPI
  • Properly fill out all documentation and labels
  • Properly handle all scrap, rework, and mixed product
  • Perform other duties as assigned
