Job summary

Surlean Foods is seeking a forklift operator to move materials within the warehouse, load and unload trailers, and maintain equipment. You will operate powered industrial trucks, organize inventory, and ensure accurate labeling.

The role requires teamwork, ability to read labels, and readiness to work in a fast-paced environment with safety as a priority. This position is on-site in San Antonio, TX, with physical demands including lifting up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; forklift certification is advantageous.
• Ability to read labels/numbers and follow instructions accurately.
• Ability to work in a high-speed, production environment with safety in mind.
• Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply) for weight and counts.

Responsibilities

• Operate industrial forklift to move materials between unloading, processing, and storage areas.
• Organize and secure stored materials such as boxes and pallets.
• Load or unload materials manually onto pallets or platforms.
• Perform pre- and post-inspections of forklift equipment.
• Report equipment damage or safety hazards to the supervisor.
• Follow supervisor instructions and maintain safe working practices.
• Weigh products or materials and record weight data on labels.

Job description

Operates the equipped industrial forklift to move materials in the warehouse region and to load and unload truck trailers or shipping containers. Operators maintain the equipment, machines, and electrical components.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Moving controls, devices, and levers to drive forklifts of industry to transfer materials between unloading, processing, loading, and storage areas.
• Organizing and securing stored materials such as boxes, pallets, and so on.
• Loading or unloading materials manually, off or on to pallets, platforms, skids, or lifting devices.
• Performing routine post and pre inspections to ensure suitable working nature or forklift equipment.
• Reporting to the Supervisor regarding any damage to faulty equipment or any other safety hazards.
• Weighing products or materials and recording weight and further production information on label and tags.
• Completing forklift operator training provided by Surlean.
• Performing other duties as allotted by supervisor.

Working Conditions:

Frequently requires standing, lifting, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, smelling, listening, speaking, and seeing to perform the essential job duties.

Work conditions vary, quitting time will vary based upon production needs, and flexibility is critical. Temperatures range from 30 to 110 degrees in processing departments. Exposure to potentially dangerous machinery and equipment is present in the plant. Potential electrical, mechanical, and chemical hazards are also present. The noise level is high and constant. Floors are damp and slick. Must be able to bend, stoop, pull and lift to 50 lbs., and to stand for long periods of time.
