Job summary

Paycom - ATS is hiring a Marine Painting and Finishing Technician in Holland, MI. The role operates on a 2nd shift (Sunday-Thursday, 2:00pm-10:30pm) with on-the-job training to develop skills in gelcoat, varnish, and protective coatings using spray equipment.

You will prepare surfaces, inspect finishes, buff to a high-gloss, and ensure quality through material mixing and spray adjustments, while adhering to safety protocols and maintaining clean, organized workspaces.

Qualifications

• Experience with spray equipment, buffers, and finishing tools.
• Ability to identify surface flaws and adjust for best results.
• Steady hand, attention to detail, pride in a perfect finish.
• Physical ability to stand, bend, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Familiarity with gelcoat, paint, or similar coatings in marine/auto environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Apply gelcoat, varnish, or protective coatings using spray guns and equipment.
• Prepare surfaces by sanding, cleaning, and masking for finishing.
• Inspect and blend finishes for even color, texture, coverage.
• Buff and polish surfaces for a high-gloss final result.
• Mix materials and adjust spray settings to meet quality standards.
• Follow safety protocols for chemicals, PPE, ventilation.
• Maintain tools and workspace for quality and cleanliness.
