Job summary

Pratt Industries is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Technician to join our team in Lewisburg, OH. You will maintain, repair, and optimize corrugating equipment to minimize downtime and improve production efficiency.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, diagnosing mechanical faults, servicing gearboxes and conveyors, and supporting safe, efficient plant operations. Prior corrugated industry experience is a plus; candidate should be able to read tape measures and work in a team

Job description

Title: 2nd Shift Maintenance Technician


Reports to: Maintenance Manager


Schedule and Hours: M-F 2p-10p with OT as needed throughout the week + Saturdays


Summary: We are seeking an Industrial Maintenance Technician to join our team. Your primary responsibility will be maintaining, repairing industrial converting, and corrugating equipment to minimize downtime.


Education/Experience


  • High school diploma or GED.

  • 2+ years of manufacturing maintenance experience

  • Electrical and mechanical experience

  • Candidates are PREFERRED who have prior work experience in the corrugated industry


Responsibilities


  • Apply safe working practices and understand the principles of preventive and first-line maintenance.

  • Maintain and optimize equipment performance by troubleshooting and repairing equipment.

  • Correctly diagnose a range of mechanical faults and plan a suitable course of action.

  • Understand the principles of power transmission systems; recognize, remove and refit taper-lock bushes, keyed shafts, belts, chains & couplings; install & align shafts; tension drive train components.

  • Correctly remove and refit various types of bearings (roller, ball, etc) identify various bearing types, understand their typical applications & recognize common defects.

  • Recognize stripped threads and correctly use thread repair equipment.

  • Manufacture gaskets and understand how to remove and replace seals and gland packing.

  • Understand the operation of various gearboxes, (helical, spur and worm-wheel).

  • Correctly dismantle and replace drive belts.

  • Recognize various types of conveyor systems and their main components.

  • Identify typical faults and correctly remove, replace and track a conveyor belt.

  • Employ the appropriate welding process (MIG, TIG, or Stick, as appropriate).

  • Use maintenance software programs effectively (i-maintenance).

  • Optimize equipment usage by conducting daily preventive maintenance and promptly reporting in a timely manner.

  • Taking care of in-house wastewater treatment (on-site training provided).

  • Adhere to all machine calls between start and end of shift, communicating with Machine Operator(s) and teams to diagnose and fix problems.

  • Demonstrates effective and appropriate communication with coworkers, leadership and management.

  • Ability to work well with others in a team like atmosphere and comes to work with a positive attitude.

  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.

  • Additional duties may be assigned by management.


Candidates are PREFERRED who offer the following: Prior work experience in the corrugated industry.


Language Skills

Ability to read and follow instructions on factory masters


Mathematical Skills

Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy. Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate. Able to apply concepts of high school math.


Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form. Ability to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations.


Technical Skills

The individual must have a working knowledge of the following: Equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation. Product layouts and production specifications. Product quality specifications. Quality standards.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

May be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License and Man Lift Operator License.


Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.


Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.


Performance Measurements

The performance of the employee will be measured as follows:



  • Operating standards - the employee will need to meet or exceed the Operating Standards in the areas of quality, cost, safety, customer satisfaction and productivity. Such standards will be set annually and communicated to the employee.

  • Personal growth - while the company will provide the tools to assist the employee to grow professionally the responsibility for moving forward lies with the individual. Each year there will be goals developed and agreed to by the employee and his/her superior.

  • Employee relations - through observations, the employee will be evaluated regarding his/her behaviors associated with appropriate human interaction, respect and communication.
