Job summary

Liberty Diversified International is seeking a Machine Operator II at our Omaha, NE facility. You will safely run corrugated production processes, set up orders, perform quality checks, and monitor machine performance. You will also train assistants and coordinate with maintenance for minor repairs.

The role requires a strong attention to detail, reading tape measures, basic math, and proficiency with computer data entry. Overtime and weekend shifts are required as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED (or equivalent) required.
• 3+ years of manufacturing experience OR 4+ years of manufacturing experience in lieu of education.
• Experience reading a tape measure to within 1/16 inch.
• Computer literacy and data entry experience.
• Ability to perform basic math and read detailed work instructions.
• Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Set up orders on machines according to customer specifications and readiness processes.
• Perform first-article and in-process quality checks to ensure product quality.
• Log production metrics and downtime into the computer system.
• Identify and communicate equipment issues; help maximize overall equipment efficiency.
• Provide guidance to Assistant Machine Operators as needed.
• Assist with minor equipment repairs with Maintenance.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow plant safety procedures.
• Take on additional duties as assigned.

Job description

Machine Operator II

As a Machine Operator II with Liberty Packaging, you will contribute to the growth of our business by being a key player in safely producing quality corrugated products for our customers. You will work within a small group, help lead your crew to maximize machine efficiencies by setting up orders correctly, performing quality checks, and communicating issues. This full‑time position reports directly to a Production Supervisor and is located at our Omaha, Nebraska manufacturing facility.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate machines by setting up orders according to customer specifications, following the order readiness process and efficiently preparing the right tools to complete the job.
• Perform quality checks by inspecting a first article and throughout the order to identify errors, ensuring product quality, and monitoring equipment and raw materials.
• Enter production metrics into a computer/electronic system to accurately track progress of production rates, quality, maintenance, and downtime.
• Proactively communicate equipment issues with appropriate leaders, troubleshoot, and problem‑solve individually and as a team to maximize overall equipment efficiency and minimize downtime.
• Provide guidance to Assistant Machine Operators as needed.
• Assist with minor repairs to equipment in partnership with the maintenance team.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area by following the post‑order cleaning process.
• Follow plant safety processes and procedures outlined for the machine center.
• Assume other duties as assigned.

Required Education, Experience and Skills

• High School diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution AND 3+ years of work experience within a manufacturing environment OR 4+ years of manufacturing experience in lieu of education.
• Previous experience reading a tape measure to within 1/16”.
• Previous experience using a computer (typing, printing, data entry).
• Previous experience applying basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
• Previous experience reading and completing detailed work instructions.
• Must be available to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills

• Experience within the corrugated industry.
• Experience with operational excellence or continuous improvement programs – Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen Events.

Compensation & Benefits

The starting pay rate for this position is $23.25 per hour plus hourly shift differential pay. The compensation posted is the anticipated pay for the position at the time of the posting. We may pay above or below the posted amount based on several factors, including, but not limited to, education, certifications, skills, experience, or work location. Some positions may qualify for additional compensation in the form of bonuses.
