Job summary

Flowers Foods, Inc. in Houston is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Supervisor to lead hourly maintenance staff, manage preventive maintenance programs, and maintain equipment uptime in a high‑speed bakery environment.

You will partner with plant leadership, review work orders in SAP, coordinate parts, train technicians and apprentices, and enforce safety, EEO, Sarbanes‑Oxley and policy compliance while supporting continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of proven leadership or supervisory experience in industrial maintenance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field; high school diploma or equivalent acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the floor on shift: schedule and manage hourly maintenance, execute PMs.
  • Communicate shift prep with previous and next shifts.
  • Review parts requests and manage parts checked out on shift.
  • Use SAP to review work requests, PM orders, and update breakdown notifications.
  • Execute small scale maintenance projects.
  • Maintain shift reporting and next day planning.
  • Conduct employee reviews.
  • Train and coach technicians and apprentices.
  • Conduct critical process inspections.
  • PM work verification for PM equipment on shift.
  • Demonstrate leadership, problem solving, time management, and adaptability.
  • Comply with company policies (EEO, Safety, Sarbanes Oxley).
  • Perform other duties per management and attendances policies.
  • Possess or attain licenses to work with boilers, refrigeration components and related equipment.

Bringing Home the Dough

Industrial Maintenance Supervisors ensure optimal efficiency is achieved through effectively managing hourly maintenance employees and participating in hiring and disciplinary decisions. The Industrial Maintenance Supervisor works closely with plant leaders, and requires demonstration and competency of plant safety, legal/labor compliance and/or food quality standards. This role is also responsible for contributing to and fostering the professional development, aptitude and technical expertise/performance of all hourly members of the industrial maintenance department.

Rising to the Challenge: Position Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain the floor, on shift: schedule and manage hourly, execute preventive maintenance (PMs), and manage line calls
  • Communicate oncoming shift preparation/meeting with previous and next shifts
  • Review parts requests and manage parts checked out on shift (Parts Tag Receipt)
  • Utilize SAP to review: work request notifications, preventive maintenance (PM) orders, and update breakdown notifications
  • Execute small scale maintenance projects
  • Maintain shift reporting and next day planning
  • Conduct employee reviews
  • Train and coach technicians and apprentices
  • Conduct critical process inspections
  • Conduct PM work verification of technicians (responsible for PM equipment, on shift)
  • Demonstrate effective leadership, problem solving, time management, and adaptability
  • Practice and comply with all Company policies and procedures (EEO, Harassment, Safety, Sarbanes Oxley, etc.)
  • Perform other duties which are deemed by management to be an integral part of the job, including but not limited to fulfillment of work schedules, adherence to attendance policies, and other applicable operating rules, policies and procedures
  • Possess or attain licenses required by their respective municipal, county/ward or state regulatory agencies to work with boilers, refrigeration components and various other job-related equipment
Knead to Know: Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of proven leadership or supervisory experience with demonstrated knowledge in industrial electrical wiring, Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) troubleshooting, motor control, and equipment repair and installation
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field is desired/High school diploma or equivalent is required
