Job summary

MillerKnoll is seeking a dedicated wood frame assembler to join our manufacturing team. You will assemble wood frame components in a fast-paced setting, using hand and pneumatic tools, and ensure quality and safety standards are met.

This role supports lean manufacturing principles, conducts routine inspections, and collaborates with teammates to meet daily production goals. Work hours are Monday–Thursday 3:30pm–2am, Fridays as needed, with opportunities for cross-training and development.

Qualifications

  • Education required: High school diploma or GED (or equivalent) or relevant work experience.
  • Experience assembling wood products or components in manufacturing or construction is preferred.
  • Ability to read tape measures, basic drawings, and work instructions; basic math skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble wood frame components, panels, or structures according to work instructions and schedules.
  • Use hand and pneumatic tools to fasten lumber and components accurately.
  • Inspect materials and finished assemblies for quality and specifications.
  • Maintain a lean, safe, and efficient production pace; follow OSHA safety practices.
  • Cross-train in other assembly processes to build additional skills.

WORK HOURS: MON - THURS 3:30pm - 2am, FRIDAYS AS NEEDED


GENERAL PURPOSE

This role is responsible for assembling wood frame components in a manufacturing environment while meeting quality, safety, and production standards.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


  • Assemble wood frame components, panels, or structures according to work instructions, blueprints, and production schedules.

  • Use hand tools, pneumatic tools, jigs, and fixtures to fasten lumber and components accurately.

  • Inspect materials and completed assemblies to ensure conformance with quality standards and specifications.

  • Maintain a consistent production pace aligned with customer demand and lean manufacturing principles.

  • Follow standard work methods and OSHA-compliant safe work practices at all times.

  • Perform cross-training in other departments or assembly processes to build additional skill blocks.

  • Safely move, stage, load, and unload lumber, wood components, and finished frames.

  • Ensure accurate material identification, counts, and part tracking throughout production.

  • Maintain clean and organized work areas to support efficient workflow and safety.

  • Operate basic woodworking or assembly support machinery (e.g., saws, nail machines, presses) as trained.

  • Monitor equipment for proper operation and report issues to leadership or maintenance.

  • Perform routine adjustments and basic troubleshooting within training scope.

  • Support team members to achieve daily production and quality goals.

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned to meet business objectives.

Education / Experience: One of the following is required: (1) High school diploma or its equivalent (GED for example), (2) work experience which demonstrates performance competency.


Skills and Abilities: Experience assembling wood products or components in a manufacturing or construction environment preferred. Ability to read tape measures, basic drawings, and work instructions. Competent in basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction). Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Willingness to adapt to changing production demands and processes.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS


  • Stand, walk, bend, and reach throughout the shift.

  • Regularly lift up to 10 lbs, frequently lift up to 25 lbs, and occasionally lift up to 40 lbs.

  • Use hands to grip, hold, fasten, and position wood materials and tools.

  • Vision and communication abilities sufficient to perform job tasks safely, with or without correction.
