Job summary

Andersen Corporation in Bayport, NY is seeking a Forklift Operator to safely sort, ship, receive and move materials within the plant. You will operate multiple PIT types, stage inbound/outbound goods, and support cross-docking across sites, while adhering to standard work and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Basic (or intermediate) computer skills · Knowledge of product, process and customer expectations within the value streams (upstream and downstream).
• Highly specialized knowledge of product and delivery requirements.
• Ability to read invoices, packing slips, emails and reports to determine correct location for delivery.
• Must be able to operate multiple types of PIT (forklift, forklift with push/pull attachment, walkie rider, and sit down tuggers).
• PIT training / PIT license required for all tasks.
• Minimum 3 years forklift experience.
• Expert forklift ability is required to sort units and handle material from multiple areas throughout the plant.
• Ability to lift 75 pounds repetitively.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, problem solve and utilize teamwork competencies.
• Dependability/punctuality.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to standard work, JBA’s, control plans, work instructions and quality specifications.
• Complies to safety parameters defined to protect equipment, facility and co-workers.
• Support and participate in Continuous Improvement and capture daily Safety Interactions.
• Identify problems and implement fixes for common issues with the use of AMS tools and standards for continuous improvement concepts, and works with the support staff, management and maintenance on corrective action to resolve.
• Work in a safe manner and follow safe work practices and policies.
• Rotate through multiple duties (sorting, loading/unloading, checking-in material, cross-docking, transporting material to and from all areas of plant, collecting waste across the plant and auditing compactor cans and rejecting contaminated cans).
• Follow specific loading/ unloading processes; load units and material without fork damage.
• Create bills of lading, fax invoices, verify deliveries, ensure material is delivered to correct location.
• Stage material for inbound and outbound shipping as well as cross-docked material to all sites of the Enterprise.
• Provides advanced training as needed to other operators and work cross-functionally (Supply Chain, Engineering, Maintenance, Fabrication and Assembly).
• Assist with training co-workers.
• Support a respectful workplace.
• Adhere to “zero Waste to Landfill” guidelines.
• Perform other assigned tasks thoroughly as assigned by Supervisor or management.

POSITION PURPOSE

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION, SKILL AND/OR COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS

  PAY RANGE:

  $18.40 - $26.89

  PROFIT SHARING:

  In 2026 Andersen has set a profit-sharing target of $3,600 per eligible employee, prorated as appropriate. Profit Sharing will be paid out in quarterly installments to provide eligible employees with payments throughout the year, with payment amounts tied to quarterly operating profit performance.
