Job summary

APP is seeking a Hot Inspector to inspect hot in-process forgings and ensure forging procedures are followed. Will inspect down-size, verify surface finish, grain direction, and geometry using precision instruments.

You will collaborate with QC, press leads, and operators to maintain quality and participate in LEAN/SPC projects. Ideal candidates read blueprints, are forklift certified, and have basic high school education or equivalent.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read blueprints.
• Some high school, vocational school, or similar work experience preferred, but not required.
• Must be a certified forklift operator.

Responsibilities

• Inspect hot forgings for fill and any visible defects including metal flow defects.
• Verify surface finish, stock location and grain direction.
• Use various measurement instruments to verify dimensions of forged parts.
• Compare inspection data with tolerances based on blueprints, travelers, and documents.
• Communicate with quality control personnel, press leads, and press operators to ensure quality forgings.
• Participate in Lean manufacturing and SPC activities for continuous improvement.
• Maintain an acceptable attendance record and follow supervisor’s direction.
• Uphold safe and honest work habits and adhere to company policies.
