Job summary

Shambaugh & Son is seeking a 2nd Shift Fabricator for the Fire Fabrication Shop to fabricate pipe for fire protection systems. The role requires reading tape measures to 1/4 inch, standing 8–12 hours, and weekend availability.

Strict adherence to safety, quality, and directions from supervisors is essential. Prior fabrication experience and reliability are highly valued in this on-site position.

Qualifications

• Read a tape measure down to 1/4 inch precision.
• Be dependable and maintain good attendance.
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic are essential.
• Able to communicate ideas clearly, both verbally and in writing.
• Willingness to learn and follow directions, including working Saturdays.
• Able to work Saturdays; weekend work may be required.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate and assemble pipe per instructions for fire protection systems.
• Use various machinery and interpret assembly drawings.
• Read parts lists and verify all parts are present.
• Ensure parts are fitted and screwed properly and operate safely.
• Verify specifications and ensure parts fit and screw properly.
• Troubleshoot malfunctions and perform repairs as needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe working environment and extended hours as required.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Use various machinery
• Study and interpret assembly instructions
• Listen to directions from supervisors
• Fabricate and assemble pipe per instructions
• Read parts list and determine if all parts are present
• Assemble tools, materials, and various components
• Interpret measurements
• Verify specifications
• Ensure all parts are fitted and screwed in properly
• Resolve assembly and production issues, with managements assistance
• Troubleshoot malfunctions and perform repairs as needed
• Ensure working environment is clean and safe
• Report errors in production
• Other duties as assigned

• Must be able to communicate ideas, thoughts, etc. both verbally and in written form
• Must be able to work Saturday (will count against attendance record if missed).

• Ability to push, pull, or lift up to 50 lbs regularly
• Ability to stand, bend, twist, and walk for 8-12 hour shifts
• Regular and reliable attendance, including the ability to work extended hours and weekends as required
