BENJAMIN STEEL CO. seeks a Burn Machine Operator to operate burning machines, set up equipment, and process stock with precision. The role requires reading blueprints, templates, and performing careful measurements to ensure quality.
The candidate should have high school or GED, drafting exposure, and prior burning machine experience, with preferred crane/forklift familiarity. Strong math and PC skills supported by safety-first habits are essential.
SUPERVISED BY: Warehouse Superintendent/Warehouse Supervisor
Specializes in operating one or more burning machines to burn plate in various shapes. Planning and performing operation which requires set-ups with a high degree of accuracy; install burning tips, and adjust guides, stops, working tables and other controls to handle the size of stock to be processed; determine proper pressures, feeds, speeds, tips and operating sequence. May be required to recognize when tools and tips need changed. Requires blueprint knowledge.
High School Diploma or GED.
Experience in making templates and some drafting.
Previous burning machine experience.
Overhead crane and forklift experience preferred.
Excellent math, geometry, measurement and PC skills.
Ability to work as a team member without close supervision to meet Company and personal goals.
Capable of reading orders, a tape measure, calipers, and blueprints and use of a square.
Capable of using a gas/oxygen torch.
Excellent eye-to-hand coordination.
Excellent reading, writing and math skills as measured by a pre-employment test.
Ability to meet physical demands of position which are required 80% of the workday (i.e. lifting, pushing, pulling, standing, and climbing).
