Job summary

Liberty Diversified International is hiring an Assistant Machine Operator I at our Houston, TX facility. You will support machine operators, set up orders, perform quality checks, stack orders, and communicate issues to keep production efficient.

Role may involve assisting in finishing tasks (gluers, stitchers, slitter, saw) as needed. Overtime, weekends and holidays may be required; prior math and instruction-reading skills are essential for safe, accurate manufacturing.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or 1+ year manufacturing experience.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
• Ability to read and follow detailed work instructions.
• Overtime, weekends and holidays may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with setting up orders according to customer specs and prepare tools.
• Support quality checks by inspecting first article and subsequent items.
• Monitor production metrics and communicate issues to minimize downtime.
• Assist with minor equipment repairs in coordination with maintenance.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow safety procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Supportmachineoperationbyassisting with the setup ofordersaccordingto customer specifications,followingorder readinessprocessofefficientlypreparingtheright toolsto complete thejob.
• Assistmachineoperators duringquality checksbyinspectinga first article, andarticles throughout the orderto identifyissues,ensuringquality product,along withmonitoringequipment and raw materials.
• Support the operator in monitoringproductionmetricstoaccuratelytrackprogressof production rates, quality, maintenanceneeds,anddowntime.
• Proactively communicateissues with equipment toappropriate leaders,and assist withtroubleshooting,and problem solvingto maximize overall equipment efficiencyand minimize downtime.
• Intermittentlyassist with minor repairs to equipmentin partnership with maintenance team.
• Maintain a clean and organized work areabyfollowingpost ordercleaning process.
• Follow plant safety processes and procedures outlined forthemachine center.
• Other duties, as assigned.

Required Education, Experience And Skills

• High School diploma orGEDequivalentfrom an accredited institutionor 1+ years manufacturingor comparableexperience inplaceof education.
• Previous experienceapplyingmathskillssuch asaddition, subtraction,multiplication,and division.
• Previous experience reading,following,and/orcompleting detailed work instructions.
• Must be available to work overtime, weekends, and holidaysas required.

Preferred Education, Experience And Skills

• Experience reading a tape measureto within 1/16” measurement.
• Experience withcomputerskills such as typing, printing, and data entry.
• Experience within the corrugated industry.
• Experience withoperational excellence orcontinuous improvement programs – Lean 6 Sigma, Kaizen Events.

Compensation & Benefits

The starting pay rate for this position is $17.00 per hour plus (if applicable) hourly shift differential pay. The compensation posted is the anticipated pay for the position at the time of the posting. We may pay above or below posted amount based on several factors, including, but not limited to education and/or certifications, skills, experience, or work location. Some positions may qualify for additional compensation in the form of bonuses.
