UnCruise Adventures in Hawaii is seeking a 2nd Mate to join the Safari Explorer this fall. The 2nd Mate serves as Navigation Officer, maintaining bridge operations, piloting, and coordinating safe routes. The position requires expertise in navigation, chart corrections, and bridge watch responsibilities.
The role features 12-hour shifts, 6-8 weeks on, 2-3 weeks off, room and board when scheduled, credential reimbursement, and healthcare benefits once qualifications are met.
We are a small-ship adventure-based travel company dedicated to creating experiences that connect people with nature, wildlife, and local cultures - we kayak among icebergs,travel to hidden waterfalls, and share air with whales. Every team member plays a role in bringing the adventure to life. Operating seven vessels carrying 22 to 86 guests, we explore destinations, including Alaska, Hawaii, Baja California , and Costa Rica.
UnCruise Adventures is looking for a 2nd Mate to join the Safari Explorer in Hawaii starting this fall.
The 2nd Mate is considered the Navigation Officer.The 2nd Mate is responsible for maintaining the bridge navigational and communications equipment as well as assisting with the vessel's piloting, navigation, safe route planning, maintaining charts and publications,small boat operations,and general caretaking of the bridge and bridge equipment. The 2nd Mate reports to the Captain and will assist the Master in communicating and enforcing all company policies and procedures.
The 2nd Mate works 12 hours per day of varied hours; two 4-hour watches per day plus 4 hours of administrative or small boat activities. However, each workday may vary depending on overall needs of the vessel and/or vessel personnel. This position is likely to require overnight and/or night shift hours.
Pay Range
$204 - $274 USD
