Job description

2nd Grade Teacher – Blanchard Campus

The Academies of Oklahoma | Blanchard, Oklahoma

Great teaching changes lives… and in 2nd Grade, it shapes the foundation for everything that follows.

At The Academies of Oklahoma (TAO), we are building something meaningful for students, families, and communities across Oklahoma. Our schools are grounded in strong relationships, high expectations, and a commitment to preparing students for college, career, and life.

As we launch our Blanchard campus, we are looking for an educator who is excited not only to teach, but to help build something from the ground up. This is an opportunity to help shape the culture, traditions, and learning environment of a new school while being supported by the broader TAO network.

We are seeking a 2nd Grade Teacher who believes in strong instruction, deep relationships, student ownership, and the potential of every child.

About the Role

The 2nd Grade Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality, standards-aligned instruction with a strong emphasis on literacy, writing, and mathematical thinking.

At Blanchard, teachers will also help bring our Core to Explore learning model to life by building strong foundational skills while creating opportunities for students to demonstrate mastery, take ownership of their learning, collaborate, and apply their learning in meaningful ways.

This role reports to the Head of School and works closely with the instructional team to support student growth.

  • Implement strong literacy practices aligned to the Science of Reading
  • Provide explicit, systematic instruction in reading, writing, and math
  • Use high-quality instructional materials with fidelity while responding to student needs
  • Create opportunities for students to think deeply, problem solve, collaborate, and apply their learning
  • Support students in demonstrating mastery and taking increasing ownership of their learning
Data-Driven Instruction
  • Use assessment data, including NWEA MAP and classroom-based assessments, to guide instruction
  • Identify student strengths and needs and adjust instruction to accelerate growth
  • Provide targeted support through FLEX, small-group instruction, intervention, and enrichment
  • Monitor student progress and use evidence of learning to determine next instructional steps
Classroom Culture & Student Ownership
  • Build a structured, joyful, and engaging classroom environment
  • Develop strong relationships with students rooted in trust, accountability, and high expectations
  • Foster a sense of belonging where every student feels known, valued, and capable
  • Help students set goals, reflect on their progress, and develop ownership of their learning
Building the Blanchard Community
  • Help establish the culture, traditions, and expectations of a new TAO campus
  • Embrace innovation and contribute ideas as our Blanchard learning model develops
  • Partner closely with families and colleagues to build a strong school community
  • Approach the challenges and opportunities of a new campus with flexibility, collaboration, and a solutions-focused mindset
Collaboration & Growth
  • Actively participate in Core Conversations, coaching cycles, and professional development
  • Collaborate with colleagues across grade levels and content areas
  • Reflect on practice and commit to continuous improvement
  • Give and receive feedback in service of stronger instruction and student outcomes
Who You Are
  • You believe all students can succeed with the right support, instruction, and expectations
  • You value strong relationships as the foundation for learning
  • You are excited by the opportunity to help build a new school community
  • You are comfortable with both structure and innovation
  • You believe students should become active participants in their own learning
  • You are committed to growing your craft and learning alongside your team
  • You bring a mindset of ownership, positivity, flexibility, and purpose
Why TAO Blanchard?
  • The opportunity to be part of the founding team of a new school
  • A chance to help shape campus culture and bring an innovative learning model to life
  • Mission-driven work that directly impacts students, families, and the Blanchard community
  • A strong focus on core instruction, student growth, and student ownership
  • Coaching, collaboration, and professional learning designed to help teachers grow
  • The support of a developing school network while still having the opportunity to help create something new
At TAO Blanchard, you aren't simply stepping into an existing classroom—you are helping build the kind of school students and families deserve.
