Job summary

Hitachi Energy, a global leader in power and automation technologies, is seeking Manufacturing Team Associates at its South Boston, VA site to manufacture liquid-filled transformers for distribution and power transformer markets. Openings exist in Assembly, Winding, and Support departments.

This role is hands-on, requiring adherence to safety and quality processes, ability to read engineering drawings, operate winding equipment, and work with cranes and forklifts as needed.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety and quality procedures and maintain housekeeping.
• Read engineering drawings to wind, assemble, and fabricate parts to meet quality standards.
• Manually assemble transformer materials; hands-on work.
• Operate semi-automatic and manual winding machines (winders).
• Fabricate materials such as coil, insulation, wire, etc., as needed.
• Check schedules and update manufacturing status using computer.
• Complete paperwork and records accurately.
• Operate cranes and forklifts for material handling.
• Monitor quality and resolve issues during production.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and participate in team meetings.
• Communicate with other departments to relay information; cross-train as needed.
• Train other employees as required.

We are currently seeking Manufacturing Team Associates to join our South Boston location and perform general labor to manufacture world‑class liquid‑filled transformers for the distribution & power transformer markets.

Openings are in Assembly, Winding, and Support departments.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform duties in a manner fully compliant with prevailing safety and quality procedures and policies. Maintain housekeeping standards.
• Use engineering drawings to wind, assemble, and fabricate product ensuring the highest quality product to meet customer requirements and delivery.
• Manually assemble material used in transformer manufacturing; very hands‑on process.
• Operate semi‑automatic and manual winding machines (winders).
• In some areas operate machinery to fabricate material such as coil, insulation, wire, etc., used in transformer manufacturing.
• Use computer to check schedules, update manufacturing status of jobs, etc.
• Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, check sheets, etc.
• Operate various types of cranes and forklift trucks to aid in material handling.
• Continuously monitor quality of work, addressing and resolving inquiries and problems.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Participate actively in team meetings and group discussions.
• Interface with other departments to accurately communicate information.
• Be willing to cross‑train in multiple skills.
• Assist in the training of other employees.
• Be a team player but able to work independently.
• Be available to work overtime as required including weekends.
• Perform other related duties, as assigned by management.
