Job summary

Solid Power Electric is seeking a motivated and dependable 2nd or 3rd Year Electrical Apprentice to join our growing electrical team. The ideal candidate has hands-on residential and/or commercial electrical experience, takes pride in quality workmanship, and is eager to continue developing their skills under the direction of experienced electricians.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or actively pursuing an approved electrical apprenticeship program.
  • 2nd or 3rd year electrical apprentice experience preferred.
  • Previous residential and/or commercial electrical experience.
  • Basic understanding of the National Electrical Code and electrical safety practices.
  • Ability to use common electrical hand and power tools.
  • Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.
  • Ability to work safely on ladders, lifts, crawl spaces, attics, and construction sites.
  • Ability to lift and carry electrical materials and equipment as required.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Professional attitude and good communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Journeyman and experienced electricians with residential and commercial electrical installations.
  • Install and terminate electrical wiring, devices, switches, receptacles, lighting, panels, and other electrical components.
  • Assist with rough-in, trim-out, service work, and troubleshooting.
  • Read and understand electrical plans, drawings, and diagrams.
  • Pull, route, and organize wire and cable.
  • Install conduit and raceway as directed.
  • Assist with installation and replacement of electrical panels and equipment.
  • Assist with installation of EV chargers, generators, battery backup systems, smart panels, and other modern electrical equipment.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, meters, and other electrical equipment safely and properly.
  • Identify and report electrical issues or potential safety concerns.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite.
  • Follow the direction of the lead electrician or Journeyman.
  • Follow all applicable electrical codes, company safety procedures, and jobsite requirements.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, coworkers, contractors, and other trades.
  • Continue developing technical knowledge and skills through on-the-job training.

2nd-Year Apprentice Expectations

A 2nd-year apprentice should have a basic understanding of electrical construction and be comfortable performing common tasks with direction and supervision.

Expected abilities may include:

  • Basic understanding of electrical systems and components.
  • Ability to safely use common hand and power tools.
  • Basic knowledge of wire types, sizes, and electrical components.
  • Ability to assist with rough-in and trim-out work.
  • Ability to pull and terminate wire with supervision.
  • Ability to install basic devices, lighting, and electrical components.
  • Willingness to learn conduit installation, troubleshooting, and more advanced electrical work.

3rd-Year Apprentice Expectations

A 3rd-year apprentice should demonstrate greater independence and be capable of completing many common electrical tasks with limited supervision.

Expected abilities may include:

  • Strong understanding of residential and/or commercial electrical systems.
  • Ability to read electrical plans and understand job requirements.
  • Ability to perform rough-in and trim-out work with limited supervision.
  • Ability to install and terminate electrical devices and equipment.
  • Basic troubleshooting and use of electrical testing equipment.
  • Experience with panels, breakers, circuits, and electrical equipment.
  • Ability to bend and install conduit or demonstrate willingness to further develop conduit skills.
  • Ability to recognize potential code, safety, or installation issues.
  • Ability to work efficiently while maintaining quality workmanship.
  • Demonstrated progress toward Journeyman-level knowledge and responsibilities.
