Job Title

Delivery Driver

Job Purpose

The delivery driver will pick up and drop off items while adhering to assigned routes and time schedules. The driver should be willing to work as part of the delivery team to ensure that the items are complete, packed correctly, and safely delivered to the correct client.

Job Duties

• Transporting and delivering items to clients or businesses in a safe, timely manner.
• Reviewing orders before and after delivery to ensure that orders are complete, the charges are correct, and the customer is satisfied.
• Assisting with loading and unloading items from vehicles.
• Accepting payments for delivered items.
• Providing excellent customer service, answering questions, and handling complaints from clients.
• Adhering to assigned routes and following time schedules.
• Complete all stops using the Workwave application when finished.
• Abiding by all transportation laws and maintaining a safe driving record.
• Preparing reports and other documents relating to deliveries.
• Operating equipment and machines, such as cars, trucks, forklifts, etc.
• Reconcile any shortages with office.

Expectations

American Food Service Depot drivers are expected to engage in transport for as many as 11 hours per day in addition to handling pre and post trip unit inspections. Drivers must report in a timely fashion, be clean and in uniform (work boots), and maintain communication with the dispatch office regarding any shorts, returns, or other delivery issues. Physical health is also critical to effectively perform actions necessary to complete the transport of products.
