Job summary

First Children Services is seeking a dedicated High School Science Teacher to join our full-time team in North Bergen, NJ. You will work with students aged 3 through 21 in a private special education setting, implementing adapted science instruction and leading IEP-driven activities.

The role requires a BA in Special Education or Early Childhood Education, NJ certification (Handicapped/DS) and Teacher of Science, plus experience with disabilities and strong English communication.

Qualifications

• BA degree or higher in Special Education or Early Childhood Education.
• NJ Teacher of the Handicapped Certification OR Teacher of Students with Disabilities Certification AND Teacher of Science.
• Experience with children with disabilities.
• Must be able to read, write and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Plan and carry out the IEP and instructional program for individual students.
• Plan and manage the school’s therapeutic approach to discipline.
• Coordinate and schedule activities with other staff.
• Maintain and inventory classroom supplies and instructional materials.
• Keep records as required.
• Write reports, meet with parents and professionals, and share information for individual students as required.

We specialize in programs for students with behavioral/emotional issues, pre-school handicapped and learners on the Autism Spectrum.
