Job Description

This role requires vegetable row crop experience. Farmworkers will participate in the general duties associated with a commercial vegetable farm operation including hand labor for planting, growing, cultivating, irrigating, harvesting and packing vegetable crops. Workers must comply with all safety rules and food safety requirements. Responsibilities may occur at any time during the growing season.

Crops handled include green beans, beets, bok choy, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, celeriac, celery, cilantro, chard, collards, corn, cucumber, dandelion, endive, kale, leeks, lettuce, parsley, parsnip, radicchio, radish, rutabaga, spinach, turnip, winter squash, and annuals.

Responsibilities and Requirements

• Have a minimum of three verifiable months of experience in hand harvesting vegetable row crops on a commercial farming operation.
• Perform duties such as manually seeding, planting, hand harvesting, packaging, hand weeding, hoeing, washing, cooling, operating agricultural equipment, and growing row crop vegetables to meet production standards.
• Work under general direction of a supervisor and subject to periodic review for results, changes in methods, and adherence to policies.
• Maximize crop yield through best planting, harvesting, weeding, and growing practices.
• Be able to lift up to 60 pounds continuously throughout the workday.
• Collaborate with crews that move and set up irrigation pipes.
• Be legally entitled to work in the U.S.
• Meet all qualifications of the clearance order.
• Commit to the entire length of the contract.
• Be physically able to perform the job requirements.
• Pick row crops according to supervisor instructions.
• Pack harvested fruits and vegetables by count or weight into containers, taking care to avoid damage.
• Lift, carry and load containers onto harvest wagons or trucks.
• Exercise care to prevent bruising of row crops.
• Clean up tasks including picking up garbage around the farm and other hand tasks.
• Plant and pick a wide range of crops (green beans, beets, bok choy, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, celeriac, celery, cilantro, chard, collards, corn, cucumber, dandelion, endive, kale, leeks, lettuce, parsley, parsnip, radicchio, radish, rutabaga, spinach, turnip, winter squash, and annuals).

The Employer will furnish all tools, supplies, and personal protective equipment required for the work. To secure a replacement at no cost for an employer‑supplied item, the Worker must present the worn‑out item for replacement.
