Job summary

Forsyth County Schools is seeking an experienced Special Education Facilitator to coordinate and support district programs for students with disabilities. You will work with administrators, teachers and families to implement IEPs, ensure compliance, and promote best practices in inclusive classrooms.

The role requires a Georgia professional certificate in Special Education, a bachelor's degree (master's preferred), and strong communication and collaborative skills.

Qualifications

  • Eligible for a valid professional Georgia Educator certificate in Special Education.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education; Master’s degree or higher preferred.
  • Proven ability to work with others in a confidential, cooperative, and service-oriented manner.
  • Must be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.
  • Ability to be present at the physical worksite.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with coordinating, planning and implementation of plans for continuous improvement of programs for students with disabilities.
  • Guide teachers in the initial eligibility process, IEP implementation, and transitional services from pre-school through graduation.
  • Assist with observations, analysis and collaborative team meetings for students with (or without) a diagnosis of developmental, emotional, behavioral or psychiatric disorders to determine appropriate placement options, accommodations and support programs needed to develop each student’s potential.
  • Plan and conduct staff development throughout the year for paraprofessionals, teachers, administrators and parents in specialized areas including Autism, developmental disabilities, behavior management and development of Functional Behavioral Analysis (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP), alternate assessment, transitioning, due process procedures, least restrictive environment and accommodation for special needs in the regular curriculum.
  • Collaborate with parents for comprehensive program planning of child on initial and ongoing monitoring basis.
  • Collaborate with outside private/public agencies in order to maintain current comprehensive medical and psychological information to support student program needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

Work collaboratively with supervisors, school administrators, teachers and others in facilitating, coordinating, and supporting the development and implementation of Special Education programs and services to enhance the effectiveness of classroom instruction and maximize student achievement through the design and delivery of high-quality work. Work closely with parents and community members in supporting and communicating district goals and changes in local, state and federal laws, rules and regulations.

Qualifications
