Job summary

St. Augustine Preparatory Academy is seeking a dedicated High School Math Teacher for our Aug Prep South Campus in Milwaukee.

The role requires delivering rigorous math instruction for grades 9-12, building strong relationships with students, and aligning with our mission to combine excellence with faith. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in mathematics or math education, plus qualified instruction in AP/Honors courses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Math Education, or a closely related field is required.
• Master's degree is preferred but not required; state license is not required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned high school math instruction (Algebra I & II, Geometry, Calculus, Statistics).
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs including IEP/ELL.
• Use data to modify instruction and prepare students for exams (SAT/AP).
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and progress in the learning management system.
• Integrate technology to enhance math learning and foster real‑world problem solving.

In This Role, You Will

be an exceptional collaborator and team player, have a deep understanding of mathematics within the content area, and an ability to connect with and inspire students. We are particularly interested in educators passionate about working in a diverse education setting as a part of a high-performing, driven staff. Ideal candidates will also be well versed in strategies to promote metacognitive engagement and be willing to go the extra mile for students. Candidates should be organized, detail oriented, and show expertise in developing lesson plans.

Academics

• Deliver rigorous, engaging instruction and ensure every learner meets or exceeds academic goals.
• Grounded in a deep belief in the potential of every student, implement instructional strategies to provide individualized and small group instruction by adapting the 9-12 curriculum to meet the needs of each pupil.
• Use academic data to modify both whole and small-group instruction in order to best meet the needs of their students.
• Plan and Deliver Instruction: Develop and implement rigorous, standards-aligned lesson plans for various high school mathematics courses (e.g., Algebra I & II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Statistics) aligned with state/national standards.
• Differentiate Learning: Adapt instruction, materials, and assignments to meet the varied learning needs, abilities, and interests of all students, including those with IEPs or ELL status.
• Evaluate work: Assess and evaluate students’ mathematical understanding, problem-solving skills, and work accuracy using clear rubrics and by providing detailed, constructive feedback.
• Promote Application: Design learning activities that demonstrate the real‑world application of mathematical concepts and encourage creative thinking and problem‑solving.
• Maintain Records: Accurately record and report student attendance, grades, and progress in compliance with school and district policies.
• Analyze Data: Collaborate with colleagues to analyze assessment data to identify student needs and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
• Prepare for Exams: Prepare students for standardized tests and college‑level exams, such as the SAT, ACT, or Advanced Placement (AP) exams where applicable.
• Promote Application: Design learning activities that demonstrate the real‑world application of mathematical concepts and encourage creative thinking and problem‑solving.
• Utilize Technology: Integrate educational technology, software, and resources into the math curriculum to enhance learning experiences.

• Communicate proactively and consistently with students, families, and colleagues, providing frequent updates on student progress, classroom activities, and school initiatives.

• Continuously seek professional growth through building and department meetings/professional development, formal coursework, workshops, and seminars/in‑services.
• School Duties: Perform other related tasks as assigned, such as supervising students outside of class (hall duty, lunch duty) or advising extracurricular activities (like a Math Club or coaching).

What We’re Looking For

• A belief in the ability of every child and a commitment to ensure excellence for each student.
• Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Math Education, or a closely related field is required, including any other requirements for accreditation. A master’s degree is preferred, and a state teaching license is not required.
• Proven experience as a Mathematics Teacher (high school level preferred).
• Active participation in a Christian church.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.

• Thorough understanding of high school mathematical concepts, including Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Calculus.
• Team player committed to the St. Augustine Preparatory mission and model.
• Experience: Proven experience in teaching or student teaching high school math classes: experience teaching AP, Honors, or other advanced math courses is a plus.
• Knowledge/Skills:

• Expertise in mathematical concepts, reasoning, and problem‑solving strategies.
• Strong background in math pedagogy and experience supporting students in developing mathematical fluency and conceptual understanding.
