Job summary

Responsibilities

• Oversee 4–5 hours of weekly practice during competition season
• Oversee kickoff event in January and communications with sponsors and publications
• Plan and organize competitions including transportation and participant lists
• Oversee student leadership nomination, application and voting process
• Coordinate post-season activities including mentor and student leadership transitions
• Provide monthly updates to parents and regular meetings with student leads and mentors

Job Description

Job Summary: The SHS Robotics Team Co-Lead Mentor works under the direction of the SHS Robotics Team Lead Mentor and SPS Innovation Specialist in order to guide and support students on the team by providing assistance with designing, building, and programming their robot. This position can expect to work approximately 6 hours per week throughout the school year.

Pre-Season (September to December)

• Lead all efforts to recruit new students, including creating an intake form, overseeing the design and printing of promotional flyers, and showcasing the robot at events
• Interview and onboard new mentors, co-host mentor training
• Supervise one 2-hour robotics practice per week on a weekday
• Chaperone at least one Saturday or Sunday outreach event per month
• Chaperone one off-season competition (New England Robotics Derby in October)

Competition Season

• Supervise 4-5 hours of robotics practice per week on a weekday
• Oversee FRC Kickoff event in January
• Coordinate nightly dinners with mentors and parents
• Oversee student outreach and business team activities, such as sponsorship communication, publications, and outreach materials design
• Oversee Impact and other awards submissions and planning, including having packets printed by graphics department
• Plan and organize competitions, including bus transportation and reservation and student bus lists/emergency contacts

Post-Season

• Oversee student leadership nomination, application, and voting process
• Supervise one 2-hour robotics practice per week on a weekday
• Chaperone one off-season competition

Ongoing

• Monthly (or more frequent) updates to parents/families of robotics team members
• Meet regularly with student leads and mentors to ensure all processes are on track
