Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) is seeking a part-time Nursing Support role in Plymouth, MN, offering 24 hpw with a 7:00 AM–3:30 PM shift and rotating weekends/holidays. The position involves direct patient observation, safety responsibilities, and collaboration with Registered Nurses to ensure high-quality care.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED (or be near completion of Health Sciences) and BLS certification within 3 months of hire.

Qualifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 3 months of hire.
• Hospital-based de-escalation training completed during unit orientation.

Responsibilities

• Direct and continuous observation of patients at arm's length.
• Respond to call lights and escalate patient care needs to the RN.
• Restock supplies and transport patients within the department.
• Complete patient care documentation and communicate changes in patient behavior.
• Support safety and participate in quality improvement activities.
• Be mindful of cultural beliefs; use interpreter services for patients with limited English proficiency.

Job Description:

• Under the general management and supervision of the Nurse Manager and/or direction of the Registered Nurse, performs a variety of activities that include, but are not limited to,
• Direct and continuous observation of patient at a distance no greater than arm’s length from patient.
• Participates in patient rounding as and when directed by the Registered Nurse
• Ensures environmental safety for patient
• Answers call lights and ensures patient care issues are directed to the Registered Nurse
• Restocking department supplies and precautions stations
• Transports patients within the department and to in-hospital locations as needed.
• Clean patient equipment following the designated process
• Completes patient safety sitter competency
• Completes all required documentation for patient care
• Communicates any and all changes in patient behavior to the Registered Nurse
• Involved as directed with quality improvement studies and activities specific to the unit.
• Considers specific cultural beliefs and practices when caring for patients. Utilizes interpreter services for patients with limited English proficiency
• Performs all duties in accordance with safety and other laws, rules and regulations as set forth by appropriate regulatory and governmental agencies and in accordance with established departmental and hospital policy and procedure.

Physical/Environmental Requirements This job requires frequent bending, carrying, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, stooping, walking and lifting over 10 lbs. There will be occasional need for climbing stairs, lifting in excess of 50 – 100 lbs and sitting. Constant use of hearing, sight and speech. Frequent use of smell and touch. Frequent keyboard and telephone use. Constant concentration and problem solving.

Pay Range:

$17.69 - $28.22

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement. The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. The pay range for this position is established and governed by the terms ofthe applicable collective bargainingagreement. Employees hired into this position will receive compensation consistent with the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
