Job summary

UT Austin seeks a Security Guard to monitor a secured facility on a 24/7 rotation at the Pickle Research Campus. You will protect employees, premises and classified information, respond to alarms, control access, and work with a team to maintain safety.

The role requires a high school diploma, strong communication, report writing, attention to detail and shift flexibility; U.S. citizenship is required and prior security experience or training is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or GED required.
• Strong communication and grammar skills demonstrated.
• Ability to write clear reports.
• Attention to detail with accurate work.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts.
• U.S. Citizenship; eligible for access to classified information.

Responsibilities

• Safeguard classified and controlled information.
• Immediately respond to alarms.
• Perform access control and verify badges.
• Control vehicle access and manage staff vehicle reservations.
• Identify employees and visitors and issue temporary badges.
• Conduct random inspections.
• Perform security checks and report hazards.
• Ensure compliance with emergency procedures.
• Assist in other facility protection tasks as part of a team.
• Interact with employees and guests with professional courtesy.
• Complete log entries and official forms.
• Make notifications related to ARL UT security status.
• Answer incoming calls and operate communication systems.
• Receive and document after-hours mail deliveries.
• Work off-site at Lake Travis Test Station.
