Job summary

Novelis Guthrie facility in Kentucky seeks an experienced Manufacturing Unit Manager (MUM) to lead a complex 24/7 recycling operation. You will drive safety, quality, cost, and reliability while coordinating across production, maintenance, engineering, quality, EHS, supply chain, finance, and HR.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership, strong data-driven decision making, and a proven track record in Lean/Six Sigma and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience
• Experience leading teams in a 24/7 complex operation
• Experience driving safety, quality, productivity, reliability and cost improvements
• Experience leading cross-functional teams across multiple functions
• Knowledge of budgeting, performance management, and continuous improvement methodologies
• Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work in an industrial manufacturing environment, with or without accommodation

Responsibilities

• Lead daily manufacturing operations to meet safety, quality, production, cost and service objectives
• Promote a strong safety culture through leadership and adherence to policies
• Support EHS compliance and sustainability commitments
• Develop frontline leaders and manage performance and development
• Drive operational excellence initiatives (5S, standard work, visual mgmt, problem solving)
• Oversee budgeting, workforce planning, and capital project evaluation
• Collaborate cross-functionally to achieve plant and business goals
• Monitor KPIs and drive continuous improvement and asset reliability
• Lead capital projects, equipment upgrades, and startup activities
• Oversee contractor activities and ensure safety and compliance
