Job summary

Scientific Games is seeking an Operations Engineer to support and maintain 24x7 real-time transaction processing platforms. You will handle production support, system monitoring, and automation, collaborating with Tier 3, QA, and development teams to ensure platform reliability and performance.

The role requires strong scripting skills (Bash, Python), experience with Ubuntu Linux, PostgreSQL, and virtualization (VMware/SAN).

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Bash scripting and Ansible for automation.
• Strong understanding of Ubuntu Linux, including system administration.
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL for database queries, optimization, and issue resolution.
• Python for scripting, debugging, and automation tasks.
• Knowledge and experience in virtualization (VMware) and SAN storage.

Responsibilities

• Production Support: Provide Tier 1-2 production support for real-time transaction processing platforms and coordinate with Tier 3 and development teams.
• System Monitoring & Maintenance: Monitor system performance, database health, and server utilization; manage OS patches and SSL certificates.
• Automation & Scripting: Use Bash, Ansible, and Python to automate routine tasks.
• Incident Management: Diagnose and resolve production issues and document resolutions.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with Tier 3, QA, and developers; communicate incidents to stakeholders.
• Database Management: Perform routine PostgreSQL maintenance and backups.
• Performance Tuning: Identify bottlenecks and optimize to scale with load.
• Documentation & Reporting: Maintain troubleshooting docs and status reports.
