Job summary

Vitro in Fresno, CA seeks an Automation & Controls Engineer to advance automation and process-control systems in a 24/7 glass manufacturing environment. You will design and troubleshoot PLC-based controls, support instrumentation and VFDs, and drive reliability, safety, and efficiency improvements across production lines.

Responsibilities include implementing control strategies, integrating new equipment, leading testing and commissioning, and training maintenance and operations personnel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
• Two to five years of controls, automation, process-control, or manufacturing engineering experience preferred.
• Manufacturing or heavy industrial experience strongly preferred.
• Experience programming and troubleshooting industrial PLC systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC-based control systems on Rockwell/AB and Modicon platforms.
• Troubleshoot automation, electrical controls, VFDs, instrumentation, and related process-control systems.
• Analyze processes and equipment performance to improve reliability, quality, yield, safety, and productivity.
• Lead or support installation, testing, commissioning, and debugging of new equipment.
• Develop control strategies and programming changes to support production and process improvements.
• Provide technical support for complex equipment and controls issues across the plant.
• Develop equipment specifications and collaborate with vendors and Corporate Engineering.
• Lead capital and process-improvement projects and provide training to staff.
