Job summary

Waipahu Waikele Pet Hospital in Waipahu, HI, seeks a DVM to join its 24/7 emergency team. The hospital supports a busy ER with round-the-clock doctor coverage and a large 11,000 sq. ft. facility staffed by 20 veterinarians, offering advanced on-site diagnostics and a strong learning community.

You will triage, diagnose, and treat dogs, cats and exotics, collaborating with a broader Hawaii group to ensure seamless patient handoffs and family communication.

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent and Hawaii license, or eligibility.
• Emergency or urgent care experience, or strong interest and a desire to grow in ER medicine.
• Calm decision-making and clear communication under pressure.
• A team-first attitude that fits a family-oriented practice.
• 24/7 emergency hospital with on-site CT/fluoroscopy and digital radiography.

Responsibilities

• See emergency and urgent care cases, from walk-ins and same-day sick visits to critical patients.
• Triage, stabilize, diagnose and treat dogs, cats and exotics.
• Manage hospitalized patients and hand off seamlessly to day-practice and surgery colleagues.
• Refer to and collaborate with Pet Specialists of Hawaii, the group's surgery and dentistry hospital.
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with families in stressful moments.
