Hourly Wage: $30.47
Initial deadline for internal applicants: 4/23/2025
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:30am - 2:30pm; occasional reassignment. Schedule may change with school calendar updates.

Position Purpose

Under supervision of the principal and Building Services, responsible for cleaning and maintenance of an elementary school. Acts as a lead, scheduling, training, inspecting, and directing custodial staff. Maintains building, equipment, and grounds.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Directs Custodian Worker I and II
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Plan and prioritize custodial work based on building needs and district standards
  • Perform duties of Custodian Worker I, II, and Lead Custodian; model excellent work
  • Provide coaching and training to custodial staff
  • Coordinate outdoor duties: trash, landscaping, snow removal, etc.
  • Operate equipment like lawn tractors, snowblowers, etc.
  • Maintain and repair equipment
  • Address custodial service issues with staff
  • Meet regularly with principal or designee
  • Order supplies and tools
  • Conduct fire drills, maintain boilers, perform safety tests
  • Inspect and maintain safety logs and equipment
  • Monitor and communicate maintenance needs
  • Manage facility use and security during shifts
  • Direct custodial staff daily and follow up on tasks
  • Respond to communications and attend meetings
  • Perform physical tasks: walking, lifting, climbing, etc.
  • Dress appropriately, display ID, and meet district standards
  • Complete work orders and maintenance logs
  • Carry district communication devices
  • Perform related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Effective communication and professionalism
  • Ability to substitute for team members and assist with tasks
  • Follow directions and maintain records
  • Motivate staff and manage supplies responsibly
  • Maintain mechanical, HVAC, electrical, plumbing skills
  • Knowledge of building systems and safety practices
  • Proficiency with Google suite, Kronos, Munis, and other applications
  • Leadership skills with at least one year in a lead role
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently
Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Experience with cross-cultural work and commitment to cultural competence
  • Experience training and evaluating custodial staff
Physical & Sensory Requirements
  • Medium to heavy physical work, frequent movement, lifting up to 75 pounds
  • Constant standing, walking, bending, climbing, and other physical activities
  • Frequent use of verbal and visual communication
