A college degree and/or teacher certification is preferred. Previous experience working with elementary‑aged children providing enrichment instruction is a must. Successful applicants will have a demonstrated passion and/or talent in an interest or hobby they want to share with children through student‑centered, goal‑oriented, project‑based learning and must possess skills/expertise in that area of instruction. Other qualities sought include excellent verbal and written communication skills, use of technology, a growth mindset, proactive problem solving, teamwork, innovative thinking, creativity, patience, and flexibility.
The 21st Century Extended Day Program mission is to nurture intellectual curiosity and reinforce self‑confidence in our students through goal‑oriented, project‑based learning that builds practical skills and develops character. We are currently hiring educators interested in sharing their talents and experiences in the fields of STEM, Arts/Crafts, and Fitness/Health with our elementary students. The program runs for 3 hours in the afternoon from Monday to Friday (approximately 2:30 pm‑5:30 pm). Work hours and days are flexible depending on the availability of our instructors and the programming needs of our five sites.
Afterschool instructors create a safe, positive environment that supports children’s social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development. They design and lead thematically integrated enrichment activities within the broader context of larger projects that nurture a child’s love of learning and reinforce confidence through skill‑building and character‑development. Although not remedial in nature, these activities should reinforce the grade‑level math and literacy learning that occurs during the regular school day.
Applicants should complete an application online at www.nashua.edu. Please attach a letter of interest for the position, a resume, and provide references from previous supervisors who have first‑hand knowledge of your performance.
